The Manhan Rail Trail is a 6 mile trail in Easthampton, MA. It starts at Coleman Rd.

in Southampton and goes to Northampton and connects with trails to Williamsburg, Amherst and Belchertown.

Trail closure extension: The rail trail will be closed tonight (Monday) through tomorrow from Ferry Street to Fort Hill Road to allow the city to safely conduct work to repair the sinkhole on Ferry Street. Trail users should plan an alternate route for the period of closure, and refer to City of Easthampton for updates on when this portion of the trail will reopen.

Trail Closure Update: The Manhan Rail Trail will remain closed from Fort Hill Road to Rt 5 (by the Oxbow) through Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026. Eversource needs two more days to complete its tree trimming/removal project. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Our neighbors to the south, the Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail in Westfield, MA, are gearing up for their annual Great River Ride on October 11, 2026. If you’d like to participate (registration ends tonight) or volunteer to help with the event, please visit their website:

The Easthampton Porchfest bike valet is open at Parsons Street Park! We’ll be here until 5:00pm today. It’s a perfect day for a bike ride and some live music!

The Manhan Rail Trail will be closed next week starting Monday, October 5 between Fort Hill Road and Route 5 while Eversource completes tree work along that portion of the trail. For your safety, please plan to avoid this portion of the trail until the work is completed on Friday, October 9. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

The Manhan Rail Trail will be closed from Fort Hill Road to Route 5 between 7am and 4pm from Monday (10/5) through Friday (10/9) to allow Eversource to complete tree work in the area. Please make alternate plans to avoid the closure. Thank you.

Just a heads up: Eversource will be doing some tree work along the Manhan Rail Trail in Easthampton, near the route 5 substation Oct. 5 – Oct. 9, 2026. They plan to access some of the work from the parking lot of the Oz Club which will reduce their time on the trail. We will post any additional information and/or changes to these plans as we get them.

The weather might be dreary this weekend, so we're looking ahead to next weekend.

Friends of the Manhan Rail Trail will host a free bike valet from 12:00-5:00pm at Parsons Street Park (at the corner of Parsons Street and Federal Street) for Easthampton Porchfest!

Parsons Street Park is easily accessed off of the Manhan Rail Trail, so come out for a bike ride and some live music!

Adults 50+ who are interested in learning more about the region’s bike share offerings - don’t forget about the free event MassDOT is hosting on Sunday, Sept 27!

Exciting news from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) - they are piloting a bikeshare education program for adults 50+, called Golden Gears, that aims to build confidence in the bikeshare system available throughout our region (including several ValleyBike Share stations on the Manhan Rail Trail!).

They will host an educational event on Sunday, September 27 from 9:30am - 12:30pm at UMass Amherst. You can also learn more about the program on the Golden Gears program website: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/golden-gears
