The Friends of the Manhan Rail Trail have just posted etiquette signs at strategic locations along the trail. We hope everyone takes a minute to read them and take them to heart when using the trail. Our objective is to keep the trail safe and enjoyable for all!
A special thanks to David Jaffe for installing them all and everyone who helped with this project.

We had a great turnout for the first ever Manhan Rail Trail Mayor's Ride today. We are grateful for everyone who came out to join us for this Bike Week event. Special thanks to Mayor Salem Derby for his time, and also to Tandem Bagel for providing some bagels. It was a beautiful day on our beautiful trail!

A huge thank you to all our hardy volunteers who turned out this morning in the rain to spruce up Easthampton's Manhan Rail Trail near the mural. We had a great crew spreading mulch and doing general cleanup work. A special thanks to George Labrie of Better Pathways who brought his Bobcat to help fill the wheelbarrows.

Just a reminder that this Saturday, May 9th is our mulching day at the Manhan Rail Trail mural. PLEASE help us with this job! 9 a.m. meet on the bike path near Tandem Bagel - bring rakes, wheelbarrows, brooms, etc. If we get a good crowd it usually goes quickly!

The annual "mulching work party" at the bike path mural is scheduled for Saturday, May 9th. We'll start around 8:30-9:00 a.m. It usually doesn't take long and any help is greatly appreciated! Bring gloves, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, etc. Meet on the bike path at the mural across from Tandem Bagel. This is a rain or shine event. Pic of last year's terrific work crew!

Four bridges on the Northampton bike trails (Shared Use Path Network) are getting refurbished beginning today, Mon., March 23, 2026. Timber decking is being replaced on the bridges to Easthampton (Rte 10), Look Park, Main St. and North St.

The bridges will be closed during the deck removal and replacement. Signage will be in place to direct trail users around the closed bridges. In most instances the detours will re-route users to busier roadways. Please use caution while using the alternate routes.

This important safety project will be completed by June 30, 2026 (hopefully sooner!). Regular updates on the project's status can be found at the Northampton DPW's website: WEEKLY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Stay safe!
