This is what equitable access looks like. 🎵

Making sure the door is open. Making sure nobody has to prove they belong before they're allowed in.

Last week, three young autistic musicians took the stage at the Rawkstars, Inc. studio at Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth Ma.

We didn't put them in front of an audience to make a point. We put them there because they had something to say.

Huge thanks to The Joshua Glynn Foundation & Autism Rocks for the opportunity to showcase these amazing musicians. Full video coming soon.

Meet Alana Sennett, one of our dedicated General Music and Ukulele teachers at Rawkstars. 🎶

Alana brings both a strong educational background and a lifelong love of music to her work with students. She earned her undergraduate degree from Smith College, where she majored in music with a concentration in flute performance, and later completed her master's degree at Fitchburg State in special education and curriculum design. She currently serves as a general music educator in Brockton Public Schools.

What Alana enjoys most about her work with Rawkstars is the students' energy and musical ideas.

When she's not teaching, Alana enjoys spending time in nature, being with animals, and making music of her own. Fun fact: she has four cats! We're grateful for the enthusiasm, creativity, and care she brings to our students and programs every day. 🎤

A Celebration of Music for Every Kid

On Thursday, June 11th, Rawkstars, Inc is hosting an intimate evening celebrating equitable access to music education — and the artists who show us why it matters.

Together with The Joshua Glynn Foundation, and Autism Rocks we're co-hosting a private event featuring two extraordinary performers:

Homer Wayne Stevens: Multi-instrumentalist and singer
Camden Fitcher (KingCamdenTheGreat): EDM artist and DJ

Both are autistic musicians whose work speaks for itself, and whose stories speak to what's possible when every kid has a real shot at music education.

The event will be filmed for a video, exploring why music access is essential for every young person, including autistic kids and teens.

Space is extremely limited, but a few seats are available. Please reach out to Jonathan Jacobs via text, if you'd like to attend.

We recently had the opportunity to host a career exploration day at the Joshua Glynn Music & Arts Center for students from Bridgewater State University’s Music Education program, along with faculty from the university’s music and humanities departments.

While the conversations centered around music, the bigger takeaway was opportunity for young people. At Rawkstars, we believe music has the power to connect people, open doors, and create spaces where young people feel supported, encouraged, and inspired.

There were plenty of laughs, great conversations, and meaningful moments throughout the day, and we’re grateful to share what we’ve learned over the years with the next generation of music educators and leaders! 🎶

Rawkstars is honored to receive a $6,000 grant award from the South Shore Playhouse Associates Community Trust Committee! 🎶

This support will help us continue building out our Plymouth music center with equipment that directly supports the programs and opportunities our students rely on. Every instrument, lesson, and creative outlet we’re able to provide is made possible through community partners who believe in the power of music education and access.

A huge thank-you to the South Shore Playhouse Associates, as well as the Cape Cod Melody Tent and South Shore Music Circus for investing in our mission and the young musicians we serve. We’re incredibly grateful for your support.

Collaboration is where the real growth happens. 🎶

Our instructors Joi Beatz and Quincy Jacobs have been leading a class in beat-making and production at the Joshua Glynn Music Center in Plymouth.

In the studio, ideas are shared, built on, and brought to life together, giving every student a voice and a place to belong!

Being named a finalist for the Adolf Busch Award is an incredible honor for Rawkstars! Out of more than 200 applicants, we were selected as one of the top five organizations recognized for using music to address injustice, inequity, and lack of opportunity.

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is the legacy behind it. Adolf Busch was known not only for his extraordinary talent as a musician, but for the courage he showed in standing against the N**i regime, even at great personal and professional cost. His willingness to do things differently and stand firm in his values is something we admire and strive to embody, too.

At Rawkstars, we’ve always believed music can change lives, create opportunity, and give young people a place to belong. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our mission and the stories behind our work during the finalist interview process, and we’re proud to stand alongside organizations creating meaningful impact through music. 🎶

Recently, a group of Rawkstars students from MAP Academy in Plymouth had the opportunity to step behind the scenes of another side of the music industry during a field trip to Professional Audio Design in Hanover. 🎵

For more than 30 years, Professional Audio Design has served over 60,000 clients worldwide as a leading resource for recording professionals. During the visit, students met with CEO Dave Malekpour, who shared insight into the many career paths that exist within the music world beyond performing on stage.

From audio engineering and studio design to production and technology, this experience helped students see that a future in music can take many forms. We’re grateful to Professional Audio Design for opening their doors and helping inspire the next generation of music industry professionals!

Meet Travis Flizz Wiggins, one of our Rawkstars teachers 🎧

Whether he’s introducing a new concept or helping a student build on what they already know, he’s focused on giving young musicians tools they can carry with them, both in music and beyond. It’s about sharing knowledge, building confidence, and meeting each student where they are. 🎶

Travis brings decades of experience into the classroom. He’s spent 26 years working in the Juvenile Justice field while also building a lifelong career in music, from performing and producing to engineering and writing across multiple genres. He’s collaborated with artists like Jadakiss, Papoose, Rampage the Last Boyscout, and Craig G, and has performed across the country, always staying close to the craft that shaped him.

That same passion shows up in the way he teaches, helping students find their own voice while learning what’s possible. Fun fact: he loves useless trivia facts. 🧠

We’re grateful for the experience, perspective, and dedication Travis brings to Rawkstars, and for the impact he’s making with every student he works with.

More moments from our music center grand opening in Kenya last month. 🎶🌍

Built in partnership with The Joshua Glynn Foundation and Project Trinitē this space is already doing exactly what it was created for: opening doors and bringing a community together.

Thank you for continuing to support the work, the mission, and the students who will grow here!
