Did you know trees love donuts? 🍩

On , we’re here to tell you when it comes to mulching, there are Dos and Do-nuts, sorry Don’ts!

DO: Keep mulch away from the bark. Layer mulch 3-4 inches deep but keep a loose donut space around the trunk of the tree. 🍩✅

DON’T: When applied properly, mulch can benefit your tree. However- don’t over do it! Avoid volcano mulching! Volcano mulching is when mulch gets piled high against the trunk of the tree. This may result in decay, rodent and insect damage and even death to the tree. 🌋🚫

Did you know rhubarb got the nickname of ‘pie plant’ because it was traditionally made into pies? And that rhubarb is used like a fruit but it is actually a VEGETABLE?!

It's a great garden addition that's easy to grow and doesn’t take up that much space. The season does not last forever, but you can learn how to preserve rhubarb safely, confidently, and deliciously with CCE Onondaga.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Onondaga is holding workshops to teach people how to safely preserve food, as there has been a resurgence of food preservation.

✔️ Perform daily tick checks
✔️ Learn to recognize tick species
✔️ Remove ticks promptly and properly
✔️ Dress for ticks - tuck pants into socks and wear permethrin treated clothing

Ticks can hide in hard-to-see places like behind ears, under arms, behind knees and along the hairline — so don’t skip your daily check.
