Bear's Bites Foundation

Bear's Bites Foundation The Bear's Bites Foundation was created to help people with emergency needs for the pets. A few years ago Mike and I had a dog named Tank.

Tank got sick the last six months of his life and there were a lot of emergency trips to Aurora, Illinois to his specialist at VCA and many trips to the Tri County Animal Hospital here in Peoria and he got to see his vet Dr Ramirez a lot. As you can imagine this was very expensive. At the time we had to figure out how to pay for everything. After Tank lost his battle, Mike and I totaled his medica

l bills and realized that not to many people could spend the money on their animals like we had just done. We decided then that one day we would do something to help families pay for their emergency medical bills for their fur families. Jump to August 1st of 2020. The very first Bear's Bites Foundation Event was held. It took us a couple of years but we have started. We have an amazing board that is very passionate about helping families and their fur families. The Bear's Bites Foundation is a 501c3 non profit organization. This means we are completely funded by donations.

🐾 After the Storm: Pet Safety Check 🌩️

Storms can leave behind more than puddles and fallen branches—they can create hidden dangers for our pets.

Before letting your dog or cat back outside, take a few minutes to inspect your yard for:

✔️ Damaged or fallen fencing
✔️ Open, broken, or unlatched gates
✔️ Downed tree limbs and debris
✔️ Standing water or flooded areas
✔️ Loose wires or other storm-related hazards
✔️ Gaps or weak spots your pet could escape through

A quick walk around your property can help prevent injuries, accidents, and lost pets. Even pets that normally stay close to home may become frightened by storm damage, unfamiliar sights, or lingering noises.

🐶🐱 Your pet relies on you to keep them safe. Taking a few extra minutes today could make all the difference.

💜 Share this reminder with fellow pet owners and help keep our furry friends safe after severe weather.

🚨 Calling All Animal Lovers! 🚨

Want to make a real difference for pets and the people who love them?

The Bear’s Bites Foundation can’t run on good intentions alone. It takes volunteers willing to roll up their sleeves, bring ideas to the table, and help us raise the funds that keep pets with their families during medical emergencies.

We’re looking for people who want to help with fundraising, events, community outreach, and making a bigger impact for pets in need.

If you’ve ever said, “Someone should do something,” this is your sign. 🐾

🧡 Please Keep Phoenix’s Family in Your Thoughts

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of sweet Phoenix

While our hearts ache for the loss of this special little boy, our thoughts are especially with his devoted owner, who gave Phoenix every chance possible and loved him very much.

Please join us in keeping Phoenix’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. We know that no words can ease the pain of losing a beloved companion, but we hope they find comfort in knowing how many people were touched by Phoenix’s story and were rooting for him along the way.

❤️ Please feel free to leave a kind message, memory, or words of support for Phoenix’s family in the comments.

This is not the post I thought I would be making...

Unfortunately, Phoenix crossed the rainbow bridge shortly after lunch today. Even though his procedure went great and he woke up normally, his body had other plans. It appears he may have had a Pulmonary Thromboembolism. This is when a clot forms and travels to the lungs causing respiratory failure.

Dr. Simison and the staff did everything they could to bring him back but they were unsuccessful. Veterinary medicine is not a perfect science and there are times where we can not predict or prevent every situation from happening. Even though we did extensive testing to make sure there were no other issues to focus on, it was his time.

I am so thankful for all the people who showed care and compassion toward him and his story. He touched many hearts in his short time with us. He will always be our Little Bit.

We are still processing this loss and ask for nothing but hope and prayers for our time of grieving.

I loved him so immensely and my heart has shattered 💔

Extreme Cold Is Dangerous for Pets

Freezing temperatures can cause hypothermia, frostbite, and death in pets.

Safety tips:
• Bring all pets indoors!!
• Limit time outside and supervise bathroom breaks
• Never leave pets in unheated areas (garages, dog houses, sheds, porches or cars are NOT ENOUGH)

If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
