Partnerships that make a difference. 🤝

What began with a connection at the Nassau County Veterans Stand Down has grown into a meaningful partnership built around a shared commitment to supporting our veteran community.

We’re grateful for advocates like Jack Stein and organizations like the Elks who recognize the sacrifices our veterans have made and continue working alongside us to give back to those who served.

There’s a lot ahead for our veteran community! 💙

Over the next several months, General Needs will be working alongside Long Island Cares to bring coats, boots, socks, and other essentials to veterans throughout Long Island and beyond.

From upcoming Stand Downs to visits with veteran shelters across the Northeast, we’re looking forward to continuing to show up and provide veterans with the essentials they need as colder weather approaches.

What exactly is a Stand Down? 🤔

A Stand Down is a resource event that brings veterans together with organizations that can help connect them to benefits, services, and resources they’ve earned.

General Needs helps encourage veterans to attend by providing items they can use, from brand-new coats and boots to sneakers, tote bags, and other essentials. Once there, veterans also have the opportunity to learn about the many resources available to them.

With a busy season of Stand Downs ahead, we’re looking forward to continuing to show up for our veteran community!

200 new followers. 1,200 pairs of socks. ❤️

Thanks to nearly 200 new members of our Instagram community and the generosity of one incredible donor, 1,200 pairs of socks will be going to veterans over the next two months!

That means 200 veterans will receive a brand-new six-pack of socks as the weather begins to change. 🧦

Thank you to everyone who followed, shared, and helped grow our community. Every new connection helps us continue making a difference for the veterans we serve.
