HURRICANES AND THE POLITICS OF FINANCIAL AID
It would seem obvious to me when people are in need of financial assistance, there should be no question or refusal to assist those in need. At least, that’s how l look at matters.
However, In 2005, under Republican Party President George W. Bush, then Congressman Ron DeSantis voted “yes” in favor of a financial relief package in Congress to help those effected by Hurricane Katrina.
Fast forward to Hurricane Sandy in 2012, under Democratic Party President Barack Obama, Congressman Ron DeSantis voted against financial relief assistance to the people in need of trying to recover from a devastating Hurricane Sandy.
Now that the people of Florida are in need of financial assistance to aid in the recovery process from Hurricane lan, Governor Ron DeSantis is fully cooperating with Democratic Party President Joe Biden. How nice!
Governor Ron DeSantis has played politics throughout his political career and is now a staunch Donald Trump Supporter.
l believe we should help everyone (the people of Florida, Puerto Rico, etc.) without any need for those in public office to play politics at the expense or need of those effected by Hurricane lan or any other type of weather disturbance, including droughts . It’s just not right!
l hope Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has learned and fully understands why we need to help people whether or not anyone is a Republican, Independent, Democrat or any other political affiliation…
