Depending on where you teach, you may have been back for a few weeks or you may just be getting started.

Either way, as we head into Labor Day weekend, we thought it was a good time to check in with our teachers…

How are we holding up???

📅 Have you figured out your lesson schedule yet?
🎻 Do all of your students have instruments?
🎶 Have you made it through a rehearsal without stopping to tune something?
☕ Or are you just very ready for a three-day weekend?

Tell us how the start of the school year is going: successes, chaos, and everything in between!

We may have a few pointers for this lad 🎻 😉

What gets students genuinely excited about making music?

We sat down with electric violinist and educator Tracy Silverman to talk about student engagement, creativity, and rethinking what string education can look like.

A new conversation with Tracy is coming to StringOvation on September 1. 🎻

Here’s a little preview.

In this short and focused lesson, Mimi Zweig guides us through Kreutzer Étude No. 19, continuing the study of measured trills while introducing impulse trills into the mix.

Learning to play an instrument goes far beyond music. It builds patience in a world that moves too fast, sharpens focus in the middle of noise, and teaches you to embrace progress one small step at a time. It gives you a way to express what words often can’t and a sense of discipline that carries into every part of life. Whether you play for yourself or for others, it’s a skill that shapes how you think, feel, and connect with the world.

Summer is more than a break—it’s an opportunity to grow in a different way. For young musicians, working with a music teacher during the summer builds more than technique. Learning violin strengthens focus, patience, and discipline. Skills that carry far beyond music. It trains the ear, sharpens the mind, and teaches perseverance through every note and mistake.

And perhaps most importantly, it gives children a voice—one they’ll carry with them for life.

As the final notes of the school year fade out, StringOvation wants to take a moment to celebrate the real champions behind every confident student performance: music teachers.
All year long, you’ve tuned more than instruments. You’ve built confidence, discipline, and creativity in every student you guide.
Now, as summer approaches, it’s your turn to rest, reset, and maybe even rediscover your own love for playing.
Thank you for everything you do for the next generation of musicians.

Music education does more than teach notes and rhythm—it builds confidence, discipline, creativity, and connection. It gives young people a voice before they even find the words, and a community where they can grow together.
At String Ovation, that belief drives everything we do. We’re here to support every step of the musical journey, making high-quality string instruments and guidance accessible to students, educators, and aspiring musicians. Because when music education thrives, so do the people it touches.
