Friends for a Beautiful East Meadow has unveiled a new initiative to transform the community into something greener, cleaner and more glamorous.

As of May 1, FABEM’s new contest, Most FAB 2026, invites local businesses to refresh, renovate and decorate to receive the most votes from community members. The first round of voting ends June 30.

Ted Rosenthal co-founded Friends for a Beautiful East Meadow with Taleen Krug and Richie Krug Jr., who have partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to support the contest among its affiliated businesses.

"When you drive up to a business and they have taken the opportunity to make their business look special, people want to frequent there," Rosenthal said.

Under overcast spring skies and with gloves and garbage bags in hand, volunteers fanned out across East Meadow on April 26 for a communitywide Earth Day cleanup that turned neighborhood pride into action.

Yesterday we hosted our ‘2nd Annual Earth Day Cleanup Project’ across all the East Meadow elementary schools—and what a fantastic day it was!👏🏻🌳

We’re incredibly grateful to all the volunteers who came out to support this effort. A special thank you to the Girl Scout troops of East Meadow, the East Meadow School District, the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Key Club/ K-Kids, The Boy Scouts, and our dedicated committee members for helping make this event such a success.

Together, we collected trash, cleared debris, and made a real difference—all while seeing plenty of smiles on the kids’ faces. Thank you for being part of such a meaningful day! 🌳🗑️
