MAKER SPOTLIGHT: Paint Brush by Patty 🎨

For more than 30 years, Patty has been giving furniture a fresh start, one brushstroke at a time.

Through Paint Brush by Patty, she transforms auction finds, yard sale treasures, and customers’ own furniture into personalized pieces. Each project begins with sanding and a fresh surface, followed by painting by hand. From custom colors to decorative decoupage, Patty loves the challenge of creating something that reflects someone’s style.

Painting has also been a source of comfort. After losing her fiancé, Patty found that her creativity gave her something meaningful to focus on, turning a longtime passion into a deeply personal outlet.

Her connection to the Makers Exchange began with encouragement from Lindsay of Knotty Hookers, who helped inspire her to pick up her paintbrush again and share her work with the community.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | Emmanuelle Ceramics LLC Emmanuelle Ceramics

Meet Emmanuelle Wambach, the artist behind Emmanuelle Ceramics, where clay, texture, and family memories come together.

Based in Pittsburgh since 2014, Emmanuelle creates ceramics that are both functional and decorative. Inspired by her mother’s love of gardening, lace, and fabrics, she incorporates vintage and antique lace impressions into her work, pairing delicate patterns with carving and sculptural techniques.

Each piece celebrates the stories carried through generations, creating lasting keepsakes that can become part of new family traditions.

Emmanuelle holds a Master of Fine Arts in ceramics and sculpture from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A ceramics residency in Japan renewed her passion for the craft and continues to shape her artistic journey.

Meet Edward Swanson, the creative mind behind Mars Edwards Studios!

Edward’s love for art started as a kid, drawing and creating his own comic books. That creativity has continued into adulthood, reaching beyond drawing into writing books and screenplays.

His artwork draws inspiration from comic books, video games, and pop culture, bringing familiar interests to life through his own artistic perspective.

✨ Meet Penny Chevront | Penny Chevront Fine Art

It’s never too late to discover a new passion, and local artist Penny Chevront is living proof!

After retiring from a career as a business analyst, Penny began her artistic journey in 2021, taking painting classes at the Museum of Ceramics in East Liverpool. What started as a new hobby quickly developed into a passion for creating beautiful, detailed works of art.

🖌️ A Passion for Precision

Penny works in a variety of mediums, including oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, and gouache. Her specialties include fine-art miniature paintings and oil paintings on copper and ivorine.

Her incredible attention to detail allows her to create intricate pieces that capture beauty on even the smallest canvases.

💚 Creativity Has No Age Limit!

Penny’s story is a wonderful reminder that new opportunities and passions can emerge at any stage of life. Through her artwork, she hopes to inspire others to slow down, appreciate the details, and discover beauty in the world around them.

The Makers Exchange & Galleria of Fine Art in Downtown East Liverpool is looking for a Makers Exchange Experience Representative to join our growing team!
We’re looking for someone who is 18+, outgoing, professional, dependable, and passionate about art, local makers, and our community. Retail or customer-service experience is preferred.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us. As the Makers Exchange expands, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and grow alongside the organization.
POSITION DETAILS:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• 15–20 hours per week
• $12.50/hour
• Flexible part-time schedule
• Training, coaching, and opportunities for growth
• Reports directly to the LEAP Hub Executive Director
TENTATIVE STORE HOURS:
Tuesday & Wednesday: 11 AM–5 PM
Thursday & Friday: 11 AM–6 PM
Saturday: 12–4 PM
Evening flexibility is important, as this position will generally be responsible for closing the store. Hours may adjust based on customer traffic and demand.
Responsibilities include customer service, checkout/POS, assisting makers, inventory, merchandising, maintaining the store, and closing procedures.

🍰 MEET THE MAKER: BEES BITES 🍰

Meet Brianna, the baker behind Bees Bites, bringing creative cake pops and plenty of flavor to the Makers Exchange!

Raised by her grandmother, Brianna grew up baking and still treasures the recipes passed down to her. After welcoming her son in December 2025 and becoming a stay-at-home mom this spring, she began turning that lifelong love into a business.

It started with cake pops for her best friend’s sister’s graduation party. The response led to more summer celebrations, fall vendor shows, and a growing collection of approximately 40 flavors!

“I feel like I’m a mixologist with cakes,” Brianna says. From lemon blueberry and cherry chip to red velvet, Dubai chocolate, and seasonal favorites like apple pie, she loves creating something for every sweet tooth.

After her mother-in-law introduced her to the Makers Exchange, Brianna saw an opportunity to reach new customers, strengthen her business skills, and connect with people looking for treats for their celebrations.

🏺 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: LISA ZIMMERMAN OF zimmspots

Lisa Zimmerman wanted a pottery wheel from the time she was five years old. During COVID, she finally bought one and began learning with an old kiln her mother had kept in the basement.

Her first pots were rough, but Lisa was proud to show her dad what she had made. When he passed away a few months later, she poured herself into pottery as a way to work through her grief.

Lisa named her business Zim’s Pots in his honor. Everyone called him “Zim.” He served as a school psychologist in East Liverpool for 30 years, and his encouragement remains part of her story.

Those early pots helped Lisa start something else meaningful: a scholarship for a local high school student pursuing early childhood education or school psychology. Her pottery continues to support that effort.

For Lisa, joining the Makers Exchange is also about her hometown. She has always loved East Liverpool, believed in the potential of its downtown, and seen the talent of the people who live here.

We’re honored to welcome Lisa and Zimm’s Pots to the Makers Exchange. Every piece carries a little of her creativity, her family’s story, and her love for this community. 💙

🧶 MAKER SPOTLIGHT: Knotty Hookers Craft

Meet mother-daughter duo Denise Reynolds and Lindsay Smoot, the makers behind Knotty Hookers Craft!

Lindsay spent 10 years teaching middle school in Florida and Colorado before returning to Ohio. She taught herself embroidery, while her mother, Denise, brought her crochet skills to the business. Together, they began sharing their creations at vendor markets and later found a home in alternative art markets.

Their work is anything but ordinary. Denise creates three-dimensional crocheted pieces called amigurumi, from playful foods to spooky favorites like Mothman and Oogie Boogie. Each one is made by hand, one stitch at a time. Lindsay creates embroidery and is developing take-home stitch kits so others can try the craft, too.

Their creativity also helps them give back. Denise and Lindsay use a portion of their profits to help provide period and hygiene kits, stock community blessing boxes with food, and support community meals.

We’re excited to welcome Knotty Hookers Craft to the Makers Exchange. Come discover something handmade, a little unexpected, and made by people who care deeply about their community! 💙
