🌱🌱🌱Language Arts and Immersive Nature Experiences🌱🌱🌱

🌺 Using the abundance of nature for inspiration, this program aims to build strong foundational skills in language arts, while fueling children’s natural curiosity about the world around them.

🌺 Treetop students will learn how to craft good questions, and how to make their voices heard. This program is for students who are interested and excited about expressing their ideas through writing.

🌺 Guided with care by expert mentors, students will:

🌱Improve their writing skills in fiction and nonfiction
🌱 Explore personal interests through writing
🌱Read and engage in discussions with peers
🌱Develop their capacity for independent work
🌱Engage in hands-on projects
🌱Deepen their relationship with the land
🌱Build vitality, happiness, deep listening, and empathy

🔥 AWAKENING WILD: Nature Immersion for Adults and SATURDAY EXPLORERS: Nature Immersion for ages 7–12 are BOTH at our EAST CHATHAM, NY location at the same time! 🔥

We have an April Hill, MA location for Saturday Explorers kiddos too!

🔥Led by longtime Flying Deer directors Julie Kunz and Raven Ross Kelso, Awakening Wild is a nine-month adventure in wilderness living skills, community building, and nature awareness.

🔥 Saturday Explorers meets one Saturday each month to learn, grow, play, and explore in nature. Guided by experienced mentors, children will learn wilderness living skills, naturalist identification, and lots more.

🦋🦋🦋 SWALLOWTAIL 🦋🦋 ADVENTURES! 🦋🦋🦋

🔥Registration for Swallowtail Adventures 2026–2027 is open!🔥

🌺 This monthly Saturday program, with an overnight campout in May, provides a safe and fun space for trans, nonbinary, and genderqueer youth to explore the natural world, gain wilderness skills, and build community with one another. Within this caring container, young people can learn, play, take on healthy challenges, step into their leadership, and just be themselves!

🌺 Our curriculum will incorporatethe following:

🌱Sensory awareness activities
🌱Games and storytelling
🌱Outdoor living skills and crafts
🌱Friction fire making
🌱Shelter building
🌱Tracking our wild neighbors
🌱Sit spots—a mindfulness exercise in nature

🌺The series will include a family potluck in the spring to expand the circle of connection.

🌍 TREETOP: Language Arts Instruction Through Immersive Nature Experiences for Ages 8–12 (Grades 3–6).
Using the abundance of nature for inspiration, this program aims to build strong foundational skills in language arts, while fueling children’s natural curiosity about the world around them.

🌎 FOREST: For ages 7–13. Offered two days a week—register for one or both days. Outdoor education adventure exploring curriculum areas such as Naturalist Identification, Survival and Primitive Craft Skills, Wildlife Tracking, Awareness Exercises, Community Building, and much more!

🌏 MYCELIUM: A weekly program for ages 8–11.
Weaving together wilderness skills, ecological awareness, and liberatory educational practices to support young people in deepening their relationship with the natural world, their communities, and themselves.
