We were blessed with another donation. This time from a well know Dallas county Veteran who continues to serve after his contract expired. That defines a true Patriot! Anyone from Dallas county should know Nick Praska. If you’re from Dallas County, Iowa and don’t know Nick, go to the VSO (veterans service office) and meet him and his amazing team. They are the best in the state. Literally. Thanks for everything you do Nick. You and LeAnne are a blessing to Dallas county! Patriot Ranch salutes you both🫡.

Military spouse was one of her many accomplishments. RIP Patriot.

Before Dolly Parton was a global icon she was something quieter.

A young woman in Nashville waiting for the man she loved to finish his Army enlistment.

Carl Dean served in the U.S. Army National Guard. They met in 1964 at a laundromat on her first day in Nashville. They stayed in touch while he served and got engaged when his time was done. They married on May 30, 1966 and stayed married for nearly 60 years until his passing in March of last year.

Dolly Parton was a military spouse.

And she never forgot the community she married into. She performed for troops during Operation Desert Storm. She recorded Ballad of the Green Beret. She joined the Boot Campaign, an initiative supporting Veterans living with PTSD. She spoke with service members around the world through the USO. Her likeness even flies on an aircraft of the 134th Air Refueling Wing.

In her own words to the troops: "So many people, regular folks and celebrities, send out love and sincere thanks to you for keeping us safe and fighting for our freedom."

Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for a lifetime of loving this country and the people who serve it.

Received a generous donation this week from post 737 of the American Legion based in Waukee. We look forward to working with them and other chapters to help the community. Thanks Jim Allen for the invite and connection!

Patriot groups working together is something that we are very passionate about improving in central Iowa!

Please work with your local veterans service office, family support group (if still serving in the military), VFW, American Legion, law enforcement department, corrections office, or fire department. We do not take self nominations.
