VIRTUAL RUN ANNOUNCEMENT
With the high potential of inclement weather pending this weekend, the race committee has decided it’s in everyone’s best interest to not put our participants and volunteers at risk Saturday morning; therefore, the Be a Hero 2026 event will now be VIRTUAL. What that means for you: you will have until Monday, March 16th (over a full week) to complete your run (1 mile or 5k) and upload your results to the assigned platform (PACE members – you’ll email or send results to Heather and the PACE team) while those registered through RunSignUp, your results will be uploaded there. You don’t have to wait until tomorrow to start…the virtual window is now open to complete your run with the final deadline of Monday, March 16 at noon, to finish and upload your results.
The local Durant team is working on a few options during the week to join up at Carl Albert Park to complete the virtual run if you would like to join up with some others (this is completely optional – details are still being worked out). We will also post social media opportunities out there and you are encouraged to invite your friends or colleagues to join you.
Results will be posted be end of day March 17th and , for the 5k participants, the UW will still be recognizing the 3 top finishers per age category per gender like we would have for the in-person. We will also be recognizing the top male and female 5k winners, so go out there and race the clock for your personal best! Shirts and/or medals will be available after March 17th and those times/dates/locations will be announced no later than the 17th. For those not able to meet up to get your things, the PACE participants’ items will be given to Heather Mize while all others’ items will be held at the United Way office through the month of March (please reach out to schedule a time to pick up these items with either Heather with PACE or Pam with United Way).
It was a tough decision as we love seeing you superheroes in person, but your safety is more important. We look forward to seeing you at future Be a Hero runs! Thanks for your understanding.
