One Rake at a Time, Inc. One Rake At A Time is focused on cleaning and restoring the Rainbow River in central Florida In 2015, One Rake at a Time, Inc.

One Rake At A Time is a community service and environmental restoration project that since 2011 has energized thousands of volunteers from Florida and beyond to remove the invasive Lyngbya algae from the bottom of spring fed Kings Bay. Citrus county residents and Rotarian Art Jones created the idea during a Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership Class in 2009. It was adopted by Kings Bay Rotary

Club and has been supported as a service project since 2011. spun off and became an independent 501(c)(3), pursuing its mission as a non-profit corporation. Every year the One Rake model grows and spreads to other communities. Now One Rake is focused on restoring the Rainbow River. We hope we can help improve the environment and the lives and of all concerned, building goodwill and better friendships along the way…one rake at a time.

Dear Friends and Supporters of One Rake at a Time. It has been brought to our attention that false and slanderous claims are being posted online and sent to various officials. This is deeply upsetting as One Rake has been a leader of community led restoration and an innovator in restoring our springs for over a decade. Art Jones, the founder, has spent thousands of hours volunteering his time in support of our springs, having never drawn a salary or receiving any financial benefit. It is troubling that a former independent contractor of ours, that we have known and supported for many years through his ups and downs, is now fabricating these false claims as retribution for having to terminate him due to his unprofessional behavior.

We ask that you please disregard these false claims and look at our long history of success and hard work as we work with our legal counsel to seek an end to this misinformation.

Big things are ahead for the Rainbow River! We’re thrilled to officially partner with Sea & Shoreline as we move into the next phase of restoration. Their experience and precision in aquatic restoration give us great confidence as this important work begins. This is an exciting step forward for the river and our entire community.

We're excited to partner with One Rake at a Time, Inc. to restore the Rainbow River in Marion County! Recognizing that some of our waterways needed help, this organization has been on a mission to restore them literally one rake at a time, scooping out algae and decomposed material to help improve water quality. Thanks to funding from the Florida State Legislature this year, we plan to vacuum up bottom muck and plant native submerged aquatic vegetation to restore this vital spring. 🌱
