The historical society was formed in 1986 by a group of women who were concerned about preserving the history of Dunnellon.

Tuesday evening, Nov 10., we are going to decorate the Depot for upcoming Christmas events. We have garland to hang, trees to put up and decorate and wreaths to place just so. Extra hands would be most appreciated, we will start at 6pm. If that time doesn't work stop by a bit later. Work for half- hour or a couple hours.
Dec 12 is our children's event, Holiday Express, 10 am to 4pm
Dec 17, is our Christmas Open House and cookie exchange, 5:30

Make plans today to attend tomorrow's night, Whistle Stop Cafe at the Dunnellon Depot
This means good food and great music. On stage, starting at 6:30- 8:30, will be Johnny V and Trouble Train playing a mix of classic rock and a bit of country.
Admission is 2 for $15, must come in together.
Food is served ftom 5:30 to 7:30, sandwiches, hobo stew and desserts

Our volunteers at the museum, inside the Depot, enjoy having visitors. Last week long time Dunnellon resident Janie Keele visited. She is helping us with research on the Dunnellon rescue squad. In the photo is Sheridan Riley, Mrs. Keele and Dottie Pohleven. Many people will remember Mrs. Keele as a substitute teacher, as the owner of Charlie Weavers or a volunteer with the rescue squad.
The museum is open Tuesday mornings, 9 to noon.
Speaking of visitors, don't miss out on our next Whistle Stop Cafe, Friday evening 5:30 to 8:30. We would you to come and support live music.

Enjoy a night out without using a tank of gas on Friday, Oct 23 during our next Whistle Stop Cafe.
Doors open at 5:30. Food - sandwiches, Fried Green tomatoes and desserts - are offered until 7:30
The band, Johnny V and Trouble Train, will bring classic rock and a bit of country to the stage. Music is from 6:30 to 8:30. Admission is $10 a person, 2 people coming in together $15.
We are cash only.

With heartfelt gratitude, the DHS Across the Decades Reunion Committee presented a token of appreciation to Andy Murray and the Greater Dunnellon Historical Society for creating the photo display and sharing the early history of Dunnellon’s schools. Thank you for helping us honor our roots, preserve our memories, and celebrate our shared history.

Coming up soon - our next Whistle Stop Cafe on Friday, Oct 23. Food is served from 5:30 - 7:30, music is from 6:30 - 8:30. Admission is $15 for two. $10 for individuals.
The band for the evening is Johnny V and Trouble Train. A group that enjoys playing your favorite classic rock songs 🎵
Come support live music and the depot without using all of your gas.

Friday night will be here before you know and there is no reason to stay home this week.
Come support the Depot, train station, and live music on Friday, Sept 18 when volunteers host another Whistle Stop Cafe.
On stage will be Jake White strumming and singing greatest hits of rock n' roll. Music is from 6:30 - 8:30.
The kitchen crew will offer Cuban sandwiches, Fried Green tomatoes and other tasty treats.
Food is served from 5:30 to 7:30.
Admission is $10 or two people for $15, must come in together.
