Please note that Code Purple will be closed on Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. If you're planning to drop off donations or connect with our team, we encourage you to plan your visit before or after the holiday.

Labor Day is also a wonderful time to recognize the incredible volunteers, donors, and community partners who work alongside us throughout the year. Your support allows us to continue serving neighbors across Dover and Kent County with compassion and practical care.

Thank you for being part of our mission. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing Labor Day!

Latin rhythms, colorful vendor displays, and the aroma of authentic cuisine filled the Green in historic downtown Dover, Delaware, on Saturday as the fourth annual Baila Con Dover Latin Festival brought residents, community groups, and local leaders together to celebrate Hispanic heritage and intercultural fellowship.

Dr. Maribel Garcia, pastor at Maranatha Life Changing Church—a multicultural congregation with members from over 20 countries—and president of Cold Purple Kent County, arrived with more than 50 volunteers.

Garcia explained that while Cold Purple Kent County operates emergency shelters for the homeless in winter, its year-round mission includes food and clothing pantries.

At the festival, the team distributed backpacks filled with school supplies, winter clothes, shoes, and food.

“Even though it’s a Spanish Latino festival, it’s bringing a lot of nations together that we can come together with one purpose to serve our community and bring some hope,” Garcia said, emphasizing that her favorite part of the day was “being able to serve the people and see the smiles in the children’s faces.”

🚨 Question! 🙋

🎒 We still have a good amount of book bags (backpacks) after our give away at “Baila con Dover” - which went great - thank you to them and everyone involved! BUT now….back to it….

Question is: Which way should we distribute the backpacks (bookbags) ? — (choose one and put in comments or DM):

A. From our pantry weekdays
B. At Love My City Day Sept. 12th or
C. By online survey and pick up

👉 first come first served basis for all three.

Your input is greatly appreciated!
