❗️❗️❗️ROADWORK TO BEGIN 6/1/2026❗️❗️❗️

An Illinois Department of Transportation resurfacing project on South Main Street in Dieterich at Illinois 33 and extending to the southern village limits will begin milling and paving Monday, June 1st.

Lane closures will be required. ​ Flaggers will be used to direct traffic through the work zones. It is estimated that the project will be completed by mid-June.

Motorists can expect delays and allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the area if possible.

The annual Dieterich Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25th at the Veterans Memorial in Liberty Park located at 203 Park Street, Dieterich, IL.

The featured speaker will be Miss Elaina Meinhart.

You are welcome to bring your lawn chairs to the ceremony.

🌩️ Severe Weather Reminder for Dieterich Residents 🌩️

Springtime in Illinois can bring rapidly changing weather — including severe storms that may develop overnight while you’re asleep.

While the Village of Dieterich has a storm warning siren, it is a siren to alert people who are outdoors (walking, fishing, playing at the park, etc.). It is not intended or capable of being heard inside your home, especially at night when you are sleeping.

To stay safe, we strongly encourage residents to take a few simple steps before going to bed:

📱Keep your cell phone nearby with Wireless Emergency Alerts enabled
📻 Have a NOAA Weather Radio in your home with alert tones turned on
🔋Make sure phones and devices are charged
🔦Keep a flashlight and shoes next to your bed in case you need to move quickly
🏠Know your safe place – a basement or small interior room on the lowest level, away from windows
✅Review your safety plan with your family

Being prepared can make all the difference. Please take a few minutes each evening to ensure you’ll receive important alerts if severe weather develops overnight.
