Teutopolis American Legion Post 924

On Saturday, Department Commander Celeste Latham, past Post Commander and current 5th Division Jr Vice Commander Mike Funneman and Department Adjutant Josh Thielen presented American Legion Post 924 member Bill and Karen Brumleve a check from the Department of Illinois Disaster Relief Fund. Bill and Karen lost their house in the Tornado that hit Teutopolis last month. In case of Disaster, All American Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion are able to apply for this Disaster relief money from the Disaster Relief Fund provided their current dues have been paid before the Disaster happened. Mike Funneman also presented a check to Bill and Karen from Teutopolis Post 924. This check came from the Poppy Funds that are from donations.

We remember R.I.P. Tim.

Timothy D. Sayne . . . Army . . . Afghanistan

Timothy D. Sayne was born November 28, 1979 in Henderson, Kentucky the son of Robert and Mary "Kathy" (Even) Sayne. He graduated from Effingham High School in Effingham, Illinois.

Tim entered service in the Army in 2008. He was based at Fort Wainwright, Alaska and was assigned to B Troop, 5-1 Cavalry, 1/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 25th Infantry Division. He deployed to Iraq in 2008. Tim married Thania Agustin in 2009.

He deployed to Afghanistan in April 2011. Sgt Sayne was killed by an improvised explosive device while on a dismounted patrol in the district of Shah Wali in Afghanistan on September 18, 2011.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church in Effingham, Illinois with burial at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

Rest in Peace, Tim . . . You are not forgotten.
