How close is too close when fertilizing near Dexter’s waterways?

Dexter City Council is considering new fertilizer restrictions aimed at reducing nutrient runoff into Mill Creek, the Huron River and other local waterways. One proposal would create a 50-foot fertilizer-free buffer near the water and add seasonal restrictions during colder, wetter months. Council has not taken formal action and is still reviewing how the rules could work locally.

WCRC Road Advisory for Dexter Township:

WHEN: Monday, August 17, 2026

WHERE: McGregor Rd between Dexter-Pinckney Rd and the Livingston County Line in Dexter and Webster Townships

WHY: Chip seal

BACKGROUND: On Monday, August 17, 2026, The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will chip seal McGregor Rd between Dexter-Pinckney Rd and the Livingston County Line in Dexter and Webster Townships.

The road will not be closed to traffic, but delays are likely due to intermittent lane restrictions.

The roadwork is expected to take approximately two days. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

High School sports are rolling, Middle School is up next! ⚓️ Before tryouts or practice, student-athletes must be cleared on FinalForms. MHSAA physicals must be conducted April 15, 2026 or later in order to be valid for this school year, and it must be on file before any athletic activity begins.
