There are some summers you never forget—not because they were perfect, but because they helped make you who you are.
The bike rides until the streetlights came on. The games in empty lots. The porch conversations, cookouts, music, laughter, and friendships that turned neighborhoods into family.
Growing up in the urban outdoors was about more than being outside—it was about belonging. It taught us how to look out for one another, find joy where we were, and build community.
Those summers shaped our stories, our identity, and who we are today.
This Friday, join us for BLACK SUMMERS: Growing Up in the Urban Outdoors—an evening of true stories told live that celebrate the memories, people, and places that raised us.
Stories that will make you laugh, remember, and reflect on the chapters of life written right outside our front doors.
💛 What summer memory still lives with you today?

It's Flashback Friday featuring Dr. D'Jatu Gray
This week, we revisit a powerful moment from our very own Dr. D’Jatu Gray—a storyteller whose voice carries truth with honesty, depth, and undeniable presence.
Not just the kind of truth you hear…
but the kind you feel.
The kind that lingers long after the story ends.
In this flashback, Dr. D’Jatu takes us into the quiet, complicated spaces where trust is tested, silence speaks volumes, and betrayal reveals more than we’re prepared to face. Her storytelling is deeply personal, yet universally familiar—inviting us to reflect on the moments that changed us and the truths we can no longer ignore.
Because sometimes the story isn’t just about what was broken—
it’s about what came to light.
Take a moment to watch, reflect, and sit with it.
Because at Twisted…
the stories may belong to one person—
but the truth belongs to us all.
“When truth is spoken, something shifts.”

☀️Black Summers: "When the Whole Block Was Family"☀️

There was a time when the whole block knew your name. The neighbors kept watch, the elders kept you in line, and the older kids looked out for the younger ones. Somehow, everyone knew whose child you were.
Growing up in the urban outdoors meant more than playing outside until the streetlights came on—it meant belonging. It was cookouts and card games, Double Dutch and basketball courts, laughter filling the air, and knowing someone was always looking out for you.
Those summers taught us more than games and good times. They taught us responsibility, respect, resilience, and the power of community.
Black Summers reminds us of a time when connection was built one porch, one block, and one neighborhood at a time.
💛 Who on your block helped raise you during the summers of your childhood?
