The DPD Law Enforcement Explorers were proudly represented at today’s City of Detroit press conference announcing the Summer Community Safety 6-Point Plan.

As part of this important initiative, our Explorer's facilitated a Gun Safety and Safe Storage resource table, engaging attendees and reinforcing the importance of responsible firearm ownership. Through hands-on education and direct interaction, our youth leaders continue to play a key role in promoting safety throughout our communities.

We also want to extend a sincere thank you to Project ChildSafe for their continued partnership and support. Their ongoing donation of gun locks allows us to provide critical safety resources directly to the community and helps prevent accidental injuries and unauthorized access to fi****ms.
This is what prevention-based policing looks like; education, partnership, and youth leadership working together to create safer neighborhoods.

The DPD Law Enforcement Explorers recently had the opportunity to support our partner at the Kiefer Foundation event at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth.

Our Explorers set up an interactive safety booth featuring the Just Drive VR simulators and Fatal Vision Goggles, allowing participants to experience firsthand the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. These hands-on activities simulated the effects of alcohol and ma*****na impairment, helping educate youth and families in a powerful and engaging way.

Throughout the event, our Explorers connected with community members, answered questions, and encouraged safe decision-making behind the wheel. It was a great experience for our youth to lead, teach, and engage with the public while building strong community partnerships.

We appreciate the continued collaboration with the Kiefer Foundation and everyone who stopped by the table to participate.
