Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting Elizabeth from CivFund . The visit was made possible by a grant we received from them two years ago to support an environmental project. This project included a Puppetry performance, a workshop and a tree-planting initiative across three counties and four schools. Kuonyesha Art Fund is committed to supporting, celebrating, and advancing artists and the arts in all their diversity across Africa.

Today we celebrate Mphilo's birthday!
Mphilo is our talented sound engineer who recently joined the team. Her role is to record voice characters for our shows, edit them, and ensure the audio is perfect for our live performances. Whether we're visiting schools or performing in theatres, her work brings our shows to life. Happy Birthday, Mphilo.

We are pleased to reflect on the success of our 'Tree Gift' environmental show, which was held at four schools in Nairobi, Kajiado, and Kiambu in March 2025, engaging over 6,500 children and teachers. This impactful project was made possible through the generous support of Kuonyesha Art Fund, which commissioned a short video highlighting the initiative's objectives. We look forward to expanding our reach to more schools, fostering new partnerships, and inspiring future generations to prioritise environmental stewardship.

Today, we held a meeting with the HEART Foundation as the first in a series of initiatives focused on empowering girls. Our goal is to produce a Puppetry show addressing girls' freedom, menstrual health, and how young girls can navigate puberty. This is a new health issue we're committed to tackling to promote awareness and support for adolescent girls.

As part of our commitment to building skills and empowering our community, we train youth who become vital members of our team, either as core team members or reliable backups when we need them most. Over the years, we've welcomed interns from universities and youth groups, giving them hands-on experience and preparing them to join our puppet family.

When we're on location filming our videos, we often face challenging conditions and difficult positions. Despite that, we always enjoy the process and keep complaints to a minimum because puppets make everything more fun. Here we are working on our first Sikicho Bilharzia and intestinal worms video, which is now running at Akili TV Kenya .
