Luna’s Story 🧡

Luna was born with a disability and is paraplegic, with deformed back legs. Despite her challenges, she has always been a sweet, strong girl who brings so much love to her family.

On September 5, Luna began biting at her right back paw, eventually causing a severe injury that exposed the bone. Her family rushed her to an emergency veterinarian, where they learned her leg could not be saved and that amputation was necessary to save her life. Without immediate treatment, Luna was also at risk of developing sepsis.

Desperate to help Luna but facing the overwhelming cost of emergency surgery, her family reached out for assistance. The Porter-Rinsky Foundation answered their call.

On September 17, Luna received the life-saving amputation surgery she desperately needed, fully funded by the Foundation. She was able to return home to begin her recovery, surrounded by the family who loves her.
“They didn’t just help us financially. They gave Luna a chance to keep living.”

Luna still has some recovery ahead, but she is home, safe, and getting the care she needs. Her family is incredibly grateful to the Porter-Rinsky Foundation and its supporters for giving Luna a second chance.

What an incredible day on the green!⛳️

The 3rd Annual Pets, Putts & Pars Golf Tournament was one for the books!

Thank you to every golfer, sponsor and volunteer who came out, pitched in and helped make this year’s tournament so special. From the first tee to the final putt, it was a beautiful day filled with golf, games, prizes, laughs and giving back.

Gunner’s Story 💙🐾

When Gunner swallowed two rocks, his family never imagined the difficult decisions they would have to face.

After multiple attempts to safely remove the rocks failed, emergency surgery became his only option. With a baby on the way, a home renovation underway, and significant financial commitments already in place, Gunner’s owner was faced with an impossible choice. To give Gunner the lifesaving care he needed, they were preparing to surrender him so he could receive treatment through a rescue.

Before surgery, the veterinary team shared information about the Porter-Rinsky Foundation and encouraged them to apply for assistance.

Not long after submitting an application, they received the call that changed everything: Gunner’s surgery had been fully funded, and he was going home with his family.

Gunner is more than just a dog. He’s been by his owner’s side since they were 18 years old, their first apartment, countless lake days, nights sharing a pillow, visits to Grandma’s house, and every adventure in between. Thanks to your support, those memories won’t be ending anytime soon.

Today, Gunner is recovering well after surgery. He’s sporting a new muzzle on outdoor adventures to keep rocks out of reach, and his family is looking forward to many more happy, healthy years together.

Lucky’s Story 🐾

A single moment changed everything for Lucky and his family. After a serious incident with another dog, Lucky’s condition rapidly worsened. He developed a dangerously high fever, stopped eating and drinking, and desperately needed emergency veterinary care. His family feared they were running out of time.

At the same time, the Tewis family was already facing financial hardship while recovering from foot surgery and time away from work. The cost of emergency care felt impossible.

After reaching out to veterinary clinics for help, they were connected with the Porter-Rinsky Foundation. Thanks to your support, Lucky was able to receive lifesaving treatment at BluePearl Veterinary in Cedar Rapids.

When he arrived, Lucky’s temperature had climbed to 105°F. The veterinary team immediately cleaned and treated his wounds, started antibiotics and pain medication, and gave him the urgent care he needed to begin healing.

Because of donors like you, the Porter-Rinsky Foundation was able to help cover the cost of Lucky’s emergency care, allowing his family to focus on what mattered most, getting their best friend home.

Today, Lucky is recovering, surrounded by the family who loves him. Stories like Lucky’s are only possible because of your generosity. Every donation helps provide hope and emergency medical care for pets when their families need it most.
