Gunner’s Story 💙🐾

When Gunner swallowed two rocks, his family never imagined the difficult decisions they would have to face.

After multiple attempts to safely remove the rocks failed, emergency surgery became his only option. With a baby on the way, a home renovation underway, and significant financial commitments already in place, Gunner’s owner was faced with an impossible choice. To give Gunner the lifesaving care he needed, they were preparing to surrender him so he could receive treatment through a rescue.

Before surgery, the veterinary team shared information about the Porter-Rinsky Foundation and encouraged them to apply for assistance.

Not long after submitting an application, they received the call that changed everything: Gunner’s surgery had been fully funded, and he was going home with his family.

Gunner is more than just a dog. He’s been by his owner’s side since they were 18 years old, their first apartment, countless lake days, nights sharing a pillow, visits to Grandma’s house, and every adventure in between. Thanks to your support, those memories won’t be ending anytime soon.

Today, Gunner is recovering well after surgery. He’s sporting a new muzzle on outdoor adventures to keep rocks out of reach, and his family is looking forward to many more happy, healthy years together.

Lucky’s Story 🐾

A single moment changed everything for Lucky and his family. After a serious incident with another dog, Lucky’s condition rapidly worsened. He developed a dangerously high fever, stopped eating and drinking, and desperately needed emergency veterinary care. His family feared they were running out of time.

At the same time, the Tewis family was already facing financial hardship while recovering from foot surgery and time away from work. The cost of emergency care felt impossible.

After reaching out to veterinary clinics for help, they were connected with the Porter-Rinsky Foundation. Thanks to your support, Lucky was able to receive lifesaving treatment at BluePearl Veterinary in Cedar Rapids.

When he arrived, Lucky’s temperature had climbed to 105°F. The veterinary team immediately cleaned and treated his wounds, started antibiotics and pain medication, and gave him the urgent care he needed to begin healing.

Because of donors like you, the Porter-Rinsky Foundation was able to help cover the cost of Lucky’s emergency care, allowing his family to focus on what mattered most, getting their best friend home.
