Saying โ€œnoโ€ is one of the hardest parts of this work.

So many requests come from real need. Families needing food. Communities needing support. Partners trying to fill gaps in a system already stretched thin. And truthfully, our hearts almost always want to say yes.

But as a small community-led organization, we also have to be honest about capacity. Sometimes saying no is the only way we can sustainably continue showing up tomorrow, next week, and next year for the people who rely on us most.

We carry every request with us, especially when it involves food access. Because food is never โ€œjust food.โ€ It is dignity, culture, survival, health, and care.

To everyone who has extended grace and understanding when weโ€™ve had to pause, decline, or redirect, thank you. We are doing our best to navigate impossible gaps with limited resources while still moving at the pace of hungry children. โค๏ธ

A reminder that community care was never meant to rest on a few exhausted shoulders alone. It takes all of us.

Thank you to everyone involved for the surprise videos, kind words, and encouragement! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ˜ญ

Feeling deeply grateful for this community and all the love poured into today. 7 years of Kaizen has never been about one person. It has always been about all of us showing up for each other. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿฅฆ Broccoli might not always get the spotlight, but it shows up in so many cultures as comfort food, healing food, and everyday survival food. From stir fries to soups to curries, it stretches meals, adds nutrition, and carries flavor beautifully. Food connects stories across generations and borders. ๐Ÿ’š

Simple ways to use broccoli at home:

๐Ÿฅข Vietnamese inspired garlic broccoli
Sautรฉ broccoli with garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and a little black pepper. Serve over rice with a fried egg or tofu.

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Mexican inspired broccoli tacos
Roast broccoli with chili powder, cumin, lime, and garlic. Add to tortillas with beans, queso fresco, or avocado.

๐Ÿ› Curry broccoli
Simmer broccoli in coconut milk with curry powder, onions, and potatoes. Serve with rice or naan.

๐Ÿฒ Broccoli soup
Blend cooked broccoli with potatoes, garlic, onions, and broth for a simple comforting soup.

๐Ÿฅ” Broccoli & potato skillet
Pan fry potatoes and broccoli together with onion, paprika, salt, and herbs for an affordable filling meal.

Food is medicine. Food is culture. Food is memory. Sometimes one vegetable can become a hundred different meals depending on whose kitchen you walk into. ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š
