The 7th placement this year with Cincinnati Veteran Companion Animal Services❗ It's amazing to see the impact the chapter is already having on local veterans and rescue dogs.

Hi, I’m Lady 🐾💗 I used to be called Shelly, but when I met my veteran, Cathy, she decided she wanted to change my name to Beautiful Lady, or Lady for short. And I think it suits me pretty well. 🎀

My story started when I arrived at Cincinnati Animal CARE in August. I was pretty shy at first, especially around the dogs in my foster home. But it didn’t take me long to figure out that following everyone outside for playtime was actually a lot of fun. Before long, I was happily joining in❗

Then I met Cathy. She served in the Army from 1976–1982 and was deployed to West Germany. She was looking for a little dog who could get along with her roommate’s 12-year-old Cockapoo service dog, so we had a little meet-and-greet to make sure we were a good match.

And guess what? I think we are going to be buddies ❤️

Cathy fell in love with me, and on September 16, I officially got to go home with her. I’m still learning the rules around here. Apparently, trying to sneak out the front door is frowned upon, so my family got me a kennel to keep me safe when the door is being used. But if I’m going to have a kennel, you better believe this beautiful lady needs a hot pink carrier. 💕🎀

I’m settling into my new life, and my family is loving having me around. I think I’m going to like it here. After all, every Beautiful Lady deserves a place to call home. 🐾

Hi, I’m Bennie. I’m a 3-year-old, 15-pound little guy who recently found myself at Gigi's after being surrendered in Gallia County. I’m a sweet boy who loves to snuggle, although I’m still feeling a little nervous about everything that’s changed.

What I think I really need right now is someone who will let me stay close. ❤️ A quiet foster home where I can decompress, feel safe, and build some confidence would mean so much to me.

I’m looking for a foster home for about 2–3 weeks as I get ready for my placement with my veteran. This short-term foster stay will give me a chance to settle in, learn more about me, and get ready for this very important next chapter.

VCAS and Gigi’s Animal Shelter will provide everything I need during my stay, including food, a crate, bowls, and other supplies. All you have to provide is a calm place to land and a little patience and love.

Hi, I’m Francie 🐾 I’m 4 years old, 24 pounds, and I’ve officially found my person❗ Her name is Mary, and she served in the Army. She’s also an artist who teaches art classes, including one for veterans, which I think is pretty special. 🎨🇺🇸

I came from an Ashland County puppy mill before I was rescued and brought to Humane Society of Delaware County where they helped me find my perfect match. Now I get to spend my days with Mary, cuddling, rolling around in the grass, and getting ready for some new adventures.

I hear camping is in our future, and I have a feeling I'll be a pretty great camping buddy.

Thank you to Kim and Gary for giving me such a loving place to land while I waited for my forever home. And thank you to everyone who helped make my journey to Mary possible. ❤️

Looks like this sweet girl finally found her happily ever after.

Hi, I’m Link❗ And I think I’ve found my people. ❤️

I’m a 4-5-year-old, 49-pound poodle mix from the Humane Society of Delaware County . I came from a puppy mill in Ashland County, and while my start in life wasn’t exactly what every dog dreams of, I’m a sweet and gentle soul who was ready for a fresh start.

That's where Aaron comes in...Aaron served in the Army and was looking for a dog who would be a good fit for his family. Turns out, I am just the guy he was hoping to find❗Now I’m looking forward to settling into my new home, getting out for plenty of walks and hikes, and making lots of memories with my new family. 🐶

A huge thank you to Carissa and Jake for opening their home and caring for me while I waited for my forever family. And thank you to the wonderful people at the Humane Society of Delaware County and VCAS for helping bring Aaron and me together.

Here’s to fresh starts and finding exactly where you belong 🐾

Hi, I’m Bella❗ And I think I’ve found exactly where I’m supposed to be. ❤️

I’m an 11-year-old, 10-pound mixed breed from the wonderful organization RESCUEDohio, and I love meeting new people, going on adventures, and being wherever my people are. After my previous owner passed away, I was looking for a new place to call home.

And then, thanks to VCAS, I met Barbara. 🥰

Barbara’s husband, Courtney, served in the Ohio Army National Guard, where he learned to fly helicopters and eventually achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Sadly, Courtney passed away before we had the chance to meet, but I know how much his service and their life together meant to Barbara.

Because military families are at the heart of what VCAS does, we were especially honored to still bring Barbara and me together after his passing. Now, I get to join her on adventures and spend plenty of time with her friends in the community. And Barbara gets to enjoy something she’s missed so much since losing her previous dog: having a four-legged walking buddy by her side 🐶

I think we’re both pretty lucky to have found each other. Thank you to Amy and Koree for loving and fostering me while I waited for my forever home, and thank you to all who support the mission of VCAS so I could find my forever home.

Here’s to a whole lot of companionship ahead 🐾
