Leaders don’t have to have all the answers.

One of the biggest myths about leadership is that a leader must always know exactly what to do.

The truth? Strong leaders ask thoughtful questions, listen to others, seek input, and are willing to say: “I don’t know, let’s figure it out together.”

Leadership is not about pretending to be perfect. It is about creating space for ideas, learning from one another, and helping a group move forward together.

If you are ages 15–22 and want to grow your leadership skills, connect with other young people, and work on projects that make our community a better place, become an OUTfront Scholar!

Belonging Together: Strengthening Teams and Communities is Volusia Pride's interactive diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) training designed to help participants better understand themselves, one another, and the systems that shape our communities and workplaces. Through guided discussion, reflection, and practical examples, participants gain tools to foster stronger relationships, improve communication, and create environments where people from all backgrounds can thrive.

Next session: Sept 5 at 1pm at the Volusia Pride Community Space

Participants explore topics including:

Identity and lived experience

Inclusive communication practices

Understanding bias and its impact

Systems of privilege and oppression

Building cultures of respect and belonging

LGBTQ+ residents and students in Volusia county, you are invited to participate in a survey by Volusia Pride in collaboration with Stetson University about the experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ individuals in Volusia County!

This survey will be up for the next two months, and it is anonymous. Responses will be used to inform future programming.

You must be 18 years of age or older and live or go to school in Volusia County to participate. The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete and you may skip any question or stop at any time.

Leaders aren’t born, they’re built.

Leadership is not something you either “have” or don’t have. It is a set of skills that grows through practice, feedback, mistakes, courage, and experience.

You do not need to be the loudest person in the room, have all the answers, or wait until you are older to make a difference. Your ideas, your voice, and your commitment to your community matter.

OUTfront Scholars is for young people ages 15–22 who want to:

Build leadership skills

Work on projects that make our community better

Gain experience in community organizing

Turn their ideas into action

If you are interested in becoming an OUTfront Scholar, join us on the September 19th at 1 PM at the Volusia Pride Community Space.
