The New Era of Search, and the Opening It Gives Local Business

📅 Thursday, October 15, 2026
📍 Sanborn Center | DeLand
🕦 Doors Open: 11:30 AM | Meeting Begins: 12 PM

🤖 When someone asks ChatGPT or Google’s AI to recommend a local business, will YOUR business make the list?

This Thursday, the Rotary Club of DeLand welcomes Matt Goren, founder of RunOctopus in Ormond Beach, for an eye-opening conversation about how artificial intelligence is changing the way customers discover local businesses.

Whether you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, or simply curious about the future of technology, this is a presentation you won’t want to miss!

Matt will demonstrate LIVE how AI recommends local businesses, explore why certain businesses are chosen over others, and share a practical checklist of steps business owners can take to improve their online visibility.

💡 Real examples. Actionable takeaways. No sales pitch.

As AI continues to reshape how people search, understanding these changes could make all the difference for our local business community!

Join us for an informative afternoon of learning, fellowship, and community connection.

Join us this Thursday, October 8th, as we welcome Alexis Galerno, Principal of Burns Science and Technology Charter School, as our guest speaker!

Alexis is an educator and school leader whose career has taken her from the classroom to serving as Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, and now Principal. Her leadership is centered around creating innovative learning opportunities, building a strong school culture, and connecting schools with the communities they serve.

Under her leadership, Burns SciTech’s elementary campus has continued its tradition as a High-Performing “A” school, while expanding opportunities for students through STEM education, leadership development, enrichment programs, and community partnerships.

Beyond education, Alexis has spent more than a decade serving nonprofit and community organizations throughout Volusia County and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in education.
