Today, we had the honor of awarding more than $50,000 in community grants to 22 outstanding local organizations that are making a difference throughout West Volusia and beyond.

From supporting youth programs, education, the arts, veterans, healthcare, athletics, and families in need, these organizations represent the very best of what it means to serve our community.

As we gathered in a room filled with grant recipients, Rotarians, and community leaders, we also celebrated a remarkable year of leadership under President Larry Drumb. In his final official meeting as president, we reflected on a year marked by service, generosity, fellowship, and impact.

While it was bittersweet to close this chapter, the energy in the room and the gratitude shared today were a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together with a common purpose.

This morning, dedicated Rotarians were out bright and early placing American flags along our beautiful DeLand Boulevard as part of our annual Flags for Heroes program.πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today, we proudly celebrate the symbol of our nation and honor the freedoms, sacrifices, and unity that the Stars and Stripes represent. A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers who give their time to help make this tradition possible and to the community members and sponsors who support the program year after year.

As you travel through DeLand today, take a moment to admire the flags, reflect on what they represent, and remember those who have served and continue to serve our country.

This past weekend, students from across our district experienced the life-changing opportunity that is the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program.

A special thank you goes to Keira Espada, who has faithfully spearheaded and led this incredible program as Chairperson for the past three years. Her dedication, passion, and commitment to developing future leaders have helped create an unforgettable experience for hundreds of students.

Throughout the weekend, participants stepped outside their comfort zones, built lasting friendships, developed leadership skills, engaged in service projects, and discovered how they can make a positive impact in their communities. From team-building activities and inspiring speakers to hands-on service opportunities, RYLA continues to shape the next generation of servant leaders.

We are also incredibly grateful to the many Rotarians, volunteers, speakers, sponsors, committee members, and community partners who generously gave their time, talents, and resources to make this weekend possible. Your commitment to investing in our youth embodies Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self.

Together, we are empowering young leaders, strengthening our communities, and creating a brighter future.

πŸ’™ Thank you, Keira, and thank you to everyone who played a role in making RYLA 2026 such a tremendous success!
