As Día de los Mu***os approaches, you may or may not have your ofrenda up yet.

We are sharing this series exploring the history behind this beautiful tradition, the meaning of ofrenda items, and activities to help you build your own ofrenda to welcome and honor your loved ones. ❤️

In Mexico, death rites date from pre-Hispanic rituals represented in murals, painted pottery, monuments, and artifacts, which shows how the Day of the Dead has its origins in the rituals practiced by the indigenous peoples of the Americas. Its precedents date to more than 3000 years ago when the Olm...

Honoring Dolores Huerta ✊🏽

Today, we honor Dolores Huerta, a courageous leader whose lifelong fight for farmworkers’ rights, dignity, and equality has inspired generations. Her unwavering dedication reminds us that one voice can spark change and that “¡Sí, se puede!” is more than a slogan, it’s a promise to keep fighting for a better future.

Thank you, Dolores, for paving the way and reminding us of the power of unity, perseverance, and community. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved mother, Dolores Huerta, has passed away today at the age of 96. As you can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for us, and we ask for privacy as we grieve this incredible loss to our family. We know that many of you around the world share in our mourning, and we will be following up on plans to recognize and celebrate her incredible life and legacy.

With gratitude,
Dolores Huerta’s Family

🌼 The Meaning Behind the Marigold. El significado del cempasúchil 🌼

Have you ever wondered why marigolds are such an important part of Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead)?

Known in Mexico as cempasúchil, these vibrant orange and yellow flowers are much more than beautiful decorations. They hold deep cultural significance in a tradition dedicated to remembering and honoring loved ones who have passed away.

🧡 A path back to our loved ones: According to Mexican tradition, the bright colors and distinctive fragrance of marigolds help guide the spirits of loved ones back to their families during Día de los Mu***os.

🌼 A symbol of remembrance: Marigolds are placed on ofrendas (altars), gravesites, and throughout homes as families honor the lives, memories, and legacies of those who came before them.

🕯️ A connection between generations: Alongside photographs, candles, favorite foods, and meaningful belongings, marigolds help create a welcoming space where families celebrate the memories of those they hold dear.

Rooted in Indigenous traditions, Día de los Mu***os reminds us that remembering those we've lost is also a way of celebrating the love and connections that continue to live on.

This Día de los Mu***os, may the golden petals of the cempasúchil remind us that those we love are never forgotten. 🧡
