🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE 2026 DOWNTOWN DECATUR DAYS! 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

Downtown Decatur Days is coming up and we're looking for volunteers to help make this year's event a success!

We currently need volunteers for SATURDAY, JUNE 20TH:
✅ Morning Setup (7:00 AM – 10:00 AM) – Help set up tents, tables, signage, and assist with directing vendors and car show participants to their designated locations.

✅ Afternoon Takedown & Cleanup (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM) – Help with cleanup, packing supplies, dismantling equipment, and directing vendor and car show traffic as participants exit the event area.

Whether you can help for one shift or both, your support makes a huge difference for our community, local businesses, vendors, and visitors. Additional volunteer information and instructions will be sent as the event gets closer.

Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary at the Summer Splash Pub Crawl on June 20th from 7-11pm!

Join us after Downtown Decatur Days for a night full of stars, stripes, sips, and summer fun as we make our way to each stop! Gather your friends, show your patriotic spirit, and enjoy exclusive drink specials at each stop along the way.

🎟️ Wristbands are just $5 and can be purchased at any participating location. Your wristband gives you access to exclusive drink specials at each stop throughout the evening.

📝 When you purchase a wristband, you'll also receive a punch card. Visit each participating location and have your card signed or stamped. Once you've collected all five stamps, return your completed punch card to any participating location by 11:00 PM to be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing!

🏆 Grand Prize:
A $75 gift certificate to a downtown business (or businesses) of your choice!

📅 The winner will be drawn and announced on Monday following the event.

🚲💙 THE BIKES HAVE ARRIVED! 💙🚲

Our two incredible Fuji Electric Bikes are now on display at City Hall, and they could be yours!

Purchase a $20 raffle ticket for your chance to win these bikes, valued at over $3,500, while supporting a great cause. All proceeds benefit Decatur Main Street's Holiday Display on Madison Street Plaza, helping us continue to create a festive and welcoming downtown during the holiday season.

🏆 Grand Prize: TWO Fuji Electric Bikes
💵 2nd Prize: $500 Cash
💵 3rd Prize: $250 Cash

This map is valid only for Saturday, June 20th, as Friday night's SINGO! will be held on the Madison Street Plaza. Parking for Friday night is available in the 1st Street parking lot. Restrooms for Friday night will also be available on the Madison Street Plaza.

DOWNTOWN HISTORY---
VETERAN'S WAR MONUMENT Courthouse Lawn

The grey granite monument honoring the "Men and women of Adams County who served in the armed forces of the United States" was unveiled and dedicated on November 11, 1969. Judge Myles F. Parrish presided over the ceremonies which opened with a parade in which the Bellmont band played patriotic songs as it marched through the streets of downtown accompanied by the local police, sheriff’s posse, boy scouts and other groups.

The dedication began when the courthouse bells rang out at 11:00 am signifying the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when the armistice was signed ending World War I.

The monument was dedicated with a speech by Rev. Otto K. Busse to honor those who served in the armed forces of the United States during World War I, World War II, Korea, Viet Nam and other conflicts.

The eternal flame was originally a true flame fed by natural gas but was later replaced by the current electric lamp.
