Hi all! Remember, we need everyone to attend tonight’s City Council meeting at Riverside Center, where the council may vote either to uphold City Code 130.02 banning live animal processing within the Decatur City limits or vote to allow it with a special exception to the code. We have presented documented studies to City Council that prove there are many detrimental effects of live animal processing located too close to communities, including decreased property value, odor, air and water pollution, wastewater management issues and increases in crime.

The City Council meeting will be held right after the 6:00 pm Board of Works Meeting, so please try to be there by the start of the 6:00 meeting. Both I-O Properties and Friends of Decatur will be given 20 minutes to speak, and then citizens will be allowed up to 2 minutes each to comment publicly.

Please show up and feel welcome to speak as our presence helps remind the Council of their accountability to the citizens and that we want them to maintain the prohibition on live animal processing within city limits. Please wear your button to show support, or we can give you one at the meeting!
