In 2002 the residents of Andrew Road in Springfield Pa. decided it would be a good idea to change their annual cookie exchange to a giving celebration to benefit families at A. DuPont Hospital for Children oncology floor. The reason for this is because one of Andrew road's children, Mark Rodgers, is a Leukemia survivor. Diagnosed in 1998 with Infant ALL, Mark spent many holidays in the hospital. M
ark's family knows firsthand how difficult many months in the hospital can be on a family. Along with their generous neighbors, they have started this giving foundation in which items are generously donated by local merchants and raffled at the annual Christmas get together. The money raised by these raffles and the gifts so generously donated by neighbors help Andrew road and surrounding streets provide financial support, parties and meals to patients and their families.
