🎉 Happy One-Year Anniversary, Karen! 🎉

Coastal Neighbors is celebrating Karen’s first year as a staff member. Karen stepped in during a challenging transition period last summer, coordinating volunteer services with compassion, expertise, and a steady hand. Her impact was so significant that we knew we wanted her to remain part of the team.

With a background in Gerontology and occupational therapy focused on older adults, Karen brings both professional knowledge and a deep personal commitment to helping Dartmouth and Westport residents age in place with dignity and independence.

Karen says her favorite part of the job is the gratitude of our members and the strong sense of community among members, volunteers, and staff. We couldn’t agree more!

Thank you, Karen, for all you’ve done over the past year. We’re grateful to have you on the Coastal Neighbors team and look forward to many more years together.

As more older adults in our community reach out for rides, friendly visits, technology help, errands, and other support, we’re looking for new volunteers to help us keep up with increasing demand. Even a few hours a month can make a meaningful difference in helping neighbors age safely and independently at home.

Whether you enjoy driving, chatting over coffee, helping with small tasks, or simply being part of a caring community, there’s a place for you at Coastal Neighbors.

Happy National Library Week! Libraries are for everyone — and our volunteers are here to help you enjoy them fully. Coastal Neighbors can provide members with rides to and from the library, or assist you from home with things like accessing e-books, using library apps, or navigating new technology. If the library is one of your happy places, we’d love to help you stay connected to it.

Looking to make a meaningful difference in your community? Join Coastal Neighbors as a volunteer!

We’re hosting a Volunteer Training on Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 p.m. at the Westport Library, and we’d love to welcome you. This one-hour session will introduce you to our mission, walk you through the volunteer process, and show you how you can support older adults in Dartmouth and Westport.

Our volunteers help with things like rides to appointments, grocery shopping, friendly visits, and tech support—and you choose the opportunities that fit your schedule.

Getting started is simple: attend a training, complete a CORI check, and provide two references. From there, you can sign up for as many or as few requests as you’d like.

Whether you have a few hours a month or more time to give, your support makes a real difference.
