Deliver Truth...Where Written Words Can't Go
www.spoken.org We deliver Truth...where written words can’t go.

Because 2/3 of the world’s population are oral learners – most of whom are unreached by the gospel – our approach to ministry is uniquely different. Oral learners do not read as their primary means of sharing and learning; therefore, we deliver Truth the way they understand best – through spoken rather than written words. And while our work focuses on individual lives being transformed, the impact made is far greater, as entire communities are moved to walk in Truth.

🇿🇲 Some walked for five hours. Others traveled for two full days.
Thirty leaders from the Mwenyi plains of western Zambia gathered for an Spoken Oral Discipleship workshop, eager to learn God's Word and share it with their communities. When they returned home, they carried something many of their villages had never had before: Scripture in their own language.

The Mwenyi people are natural storytellers. Around evening fires, they pass down history, wisdom, and values through spoken words. Storytelling is woven into daily life. And now, those same voices are carrying something even greater—the truth of God's Word.

Among those leaders was Simangolwa, a farmer from Silai village. For years, his community relied on a Bible written in Lozi, a trade language they could recognize but never fully understand. God's Word was available, yet it remained just beyond their grasp.

That changed at the workshop.
In only two days, Simangolwa learned Genesis 3—not by reading it, but by hearing it, discussing it, and speaking it in the oral style that comes naturally to the Mwenyi people.

"I can go far because I can learn more," he said. "Before, they couldn't understand the Bible. They are very happy to have the Bible in Mwenyi, and I am even more."

When he returned home, Simangolwa immediately began sharing what he had learned. Today, he leads two oral discipleship groups where sixteen neighbors gather regularly to hear and engage with God's Word. Some are already sharing the gospel with others.

Thirty leaders attended that workshop. Today, thirty villages have leaders equipped to share God's Word in the language people understand best.

This is the power of oral discipleship. When people encounter Scripture in their heart language, they understand it, embrace it, and pass it on. Through your support, God's Word is reaching places others can't reach—transforming lives, families, and entire communities. 🧡

For millions of people around the world, the Bible cannot simply be read, it must be heard to be understood. 🎧

In many oral communities, reading is not part of everyday life. That means God’s Word is most impactful when it is shared through spoken Scripture in the language people know best — their heart language.

Through Oral Bible Translation and Oral Discipleship, Spoken Worldwide equips local leaders to share Scripture in ways that are natural, understandable, and easy to pass on to others.

As disciples make disciples, God’s Word spreads from person to person and village to village, bringing lasting transformation to communities from the inside out. 🌍

“If we had started doing this years ago, there would be tons of disciples now.”

To reach this small village in Biafada territory, the team crossed a river by boat, traveling deep into the swampy peninsula villages of southern Guinea-Bissau.

They were entering a region that is nearly 100% Muslim, with only a small number of believers, and no known church.

The journey was difficult. But the work behind it had already been years in the making.
For a long time, faithful local translators quietly labored to bring God’s Word into the Biafada language through Oral Bible Translation. They recorded oral translations of Mark and Acts, tested them within the community, and worked carefully to ensure people could truly hear and understand Scripture in their own language.

Again and again, villagers asked to hear more Bible stories. Yet fear kept many from openly talking about faith.

Then, for the very first time, an Spoken Oral Discipleship workshop was held inside the Biafada region itself.

As participants practiced sharing simple, reproducible Bible stories with one another, something began to change. Hope replaced hesitation. What once felt distant suddenly felt possible.

One local leader who had spent years serving in the translation work looked around the room and said what many were already feeling:
“If we had started doing this years ago, there would be tons of disciples now.”
After years of planting seeds, the harvest is beginning to emerge. And what makes this moment so powerful is that the gospel is spreading through local families, relationships, and communities themselves. 🌱

Please pray for the Biafada people, for the believers courageously taking these first steps of faith, and for the faithful workers who spent years preparing the soil before seeing the first signs of fruit.

387 people.
61 small groups.
And the multiplication is still growing. 🔥

Recently in Egypt, local Sudanese Arabic-speaking leaders were trained in Oral Discipleship — and now they are watching disciples make disciples, with some groups already multiplying into their third generation.

What began with a few faithful leaders is now spreading from person to person, family to family, and home to home as communities gather around God’s Word together.

This is what multiplication can look like in oral communities.

It’s not centered around a stage or a single voice preaching to a crowd. Instead, neighbors and families are engaging with Scripture together in their own heart language and in ways that are natural, understandable, and deeply personal to them.
And lives are changing.

Please pray for the growing harvest in Egypt. 🌾 Pray for those who still have not heard God’s Word in a way that truly connects with their hearts. And pray for the local leaders faithfully serving each day to disciple others and carry the Gospel deeper into their communities for the glory of Christ.

“It was our first time really being together.” - Local Church Leader 🧡

Church leaders from different denominations across Myanmar gathered for Oral Discipleship Training, and for some, it was the very first time they had ever sat in the same room together.

Together, they listened to Scripture in their own heart languages, discussed God’s Word in small groups, and learned how simple Discovery Bible Studies can begin right inside homes and communities.

And something beautiful happened.

Walls began to come down. Differences that once felt dividing became smaller in the presence of a shared mission. What once seemed impossible — bringing God’s Word into unreached communities — suddenly felt achievable.

When people hear Scripture in the language of their hearts, it does more than impact individuals. It brings believers together around the mission of making disciples.

🙏 Please pray for these new friendships and partnerships to grow stronger as local leaders carry the newly translated Scriptures into communities still waiting to hear the gospel.

All Glory to God for His Faithfulness! 🙌🙏

For the Inthar people of Myanmar, hearing God's Word in their heart language once seemed impossible.

Yet today — after 5 years of faithful work — it's a reality. Praise God the Oral New Testament is now available and accessible for the Inthar people!

Pray for every heart that hears Scripture for the first time. 🙏

Oral discipleship has officially launched alongside our Phinisi Oral Bible Translation language project in Indonesia! 🙌🧡

Praise God for opening the door for the Lowe, Konjo, and Dentong communities to receive His Word in their heart language. And now, through the Spoken Oral Discipleship team, local leaders are being equipped to use translated Scripture to reach oral learners who have yet to hear God’s Word, and to disciple others who will disciple still more.

During the training, Mrs. Marta was given the story of Joseph to learn. Using her artistic gifts, she began by drawing the story. Then she turned it into a song. By the snack break, she and a guitarist were performing it for the entire group.

By the end of the day, the whole room was singing Scripture and dancing together.

By the final oral discipleship training session, seven original songs had been created—each one carrying a Bible story, and each one ready to travel into the community.

🎧️ For oral learners, this is deeply natural. Across oral cultures, songs are woven into everyday life. They carry history, preserve tradition, teach truth, and help communities remember what matters most. So when Scripture is shared through song, story, movement, and memory, God’s Word is not just heard, it is received, remembered, and passed on.

That is the power of God’s Word being shared in a way people can truly receive. This is why orality matters.

Written Scripture is a gift. But for oral learners to fully engage with God’s Word, they need access in a form that speaks to the way they learn, remember, and share. Oral Discipleship helps make that possible.

This is what it looks like when God’s Word comes alive in oral communities.🧡

🙏 Please pray for the local leaders now sharing Scripture with their communities. Pray that God would soften hearts, raise up disciple-makers, and use His Word to bring lasting transformation.

🙌 Celebrating what only God could do.

For the Inthar people of Myanmar, where believers make up just 1% of the population and many cannot read, access to Scripture has felt impossible. But God was preparing something far greater than they could have imagined.

After five years of dedicated work, a small group of believers completed the Oral New Testament in their heart language. Earlier this month, pastors and community leaders gathered to celebrate and pray over the audio devices containing the Oral New Testament, which will now be distributed to homes, villages, and hearts, allowing the Inthar people to hear Scripture for the very first time.

We praise God for answering prayers, as the Inthar people have finally received His Word in their heart language and in the format they understand best.

🙏 Please pray for the Inthar people as God's Word is shared. Pray for open hearts and a movement of faith that transforms the entire region.
