This Hispanic Heritage Month, we are celebrating the cultures and communities that make Dallas home, including the work of our Spanish Immersion Placement.

Over several months, members in the placement build confidence in Spanish language and then use their skills in real, community-facing service.

Project Chair Lexi Koonce explains that it "allows volunteers to build relationships directly, rather than relying on translation."

"We're not just teaching a language," Lexi adds. "We're helping develop volunteers who can engage more deeply with the community and broaden the reach of our mission."

We recently awarded 33 Dallas ISD educators grants of up to $2,500 each through our annual Grants for Innovative Teaching (GFIT) program, funding creative classroom projects that will impact more than 15,500 Dallas ISD students this year.

From a student-led broadcast journalism studio to a bilingual STEAM learning lab and a hydroponics program building career skills, this year's grant recipients are bringing bold ideas into their classrooms and JLD volunteers are proud to help make it happen.

Join us in celebrating the Junior League of Dallas receiving the 2026 AJLI Excellence Award, AJLI’s highest honor!

At our September General Membership Meeting, we reflected on what this national recognition represents: the leadership, service, innovation and community impact made possible by our members. Members enjoyed hearing firsthand from AJLI CEO Melanie Schild and AJLI Board President Diane Flanagan about what made JLD standout and how AJLI is supporting Leagues across the world.

From Provisionals to Sustainers, generations of JLD women have invested their time and talents in developing women leaders and making Dallas shine.

Cheers to the women behind the work and all that JLD will accomplish next!

It is bittersweet to share that Lisa Nelson, our Development Operations Director is retiring. We are truly grateful for her contributions over her nine years at the Junior League of Dallas and know her impact not only leaves a legacy on the Dallas community, but every JLD member who crossed her path. We wish you the best in your retirement, Lisa!

With that, we are now looking for a Development Operations Manager to help power the systems behind our fundraising and donor relationships.

This is a great opportunity for someone with nonprofit development experience who loves building strong operations, working with data, and supporting a passionate volunteer community.
