This summer marks two years since the launch of Street to Home in downtown Dallas, an extension of the All Neighbors Coalition’s broader work to ensure no one is forced to sleep outside. Since then:

📉 Daily street homelessness counts have dropped by more than 80%

🌳 Public spaces have reopened for all to enjoy

Progress like this doesn’t happen on its own. It takes real investment. Downtown Dallas is proof of what’s possible when our community has the resources to effectively bring people inside.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Dallas County Commissioners Court voted to place a homelessness funding proposal on the November 2026 ballot.

Voters will decide whether to fund programs aimed at resolving encampments more quickly, moving more people off the streets and strengthening Dallas County neighborhoods. If passed, the measure would cost the median homeowner about $5 per month.

Thank you to the Advisory Council of the South Dallas Employment Project for inviting our Director of Housing Initiatives Leah Williams to present at its recent meeting. It was an honor to connect with such a dedicated group of employment services providers, including several of our own All Neighbors Coalition members.

If one thing is clear in this work, it's that we're better together. Here’s to continued collaboration and ensuring our neighbors have the support and resources they need to thrive and achieve self-sufficiency.

These are the moments that fuel the engine driving our progress.

Last week, members of the All Neighbors Coalition came together to share updates, combine expertise, and troubleshoot the barriers standing in the way of our mission to end homelessness in Dallas and Collin counties.

Having some of our region’s most dedicated housing leaders in one room makes all the difference. It’s how we’ve developed an effective homeless response system that’s enabled more than 24,000 exits from homelessness since 2021.

Dallas, the World Cup is here. But that won’t change how we show up for neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Our work to ensure no one is forced to sleep outside — while keeping public spaces open and accessible for all — began long before we were named a FIFA host city.

When you see Housing Forward and All Neighbors Coalition outreach teams connecting with our unhoused neighbors throughout the games, know we’re there to say YES to permanent housing, and NO to containment zones and temporary shelters that move people out of sight without getting them off the street.

Our focus for Street to Home phase two is twofold: keep downtown Dallas encampments closed and bring our proven model to other parts of the region — including FIFA sites and transportation hubs.

Two years after launching Street to Home phase one, we’ve proven the results are endless when local leaders align under a common goal. By working together at a shared table, we’ve:

🚫 Decommissioned all downtown Dallas encampments

📉 Achieved an over 80% reduction in daily street counts

💰 Saved taxpayers millions of dollars in crisis response costs

Since day one, our position on street sleeping has been clear: We can say no to camping while providing our unhoused neighbors with the resources needed to achieve long-term stability.

Since 2014, we’ve reduced the number of people sleeping on downtown streets by 87% and permanently resolved all downtown encampments.

Now, with FIFA fans rolling in and games just days away, the All Neighbors Coalition has mobilized to keep public spaces accessible and support even more of our neighbors as they achieve self-sufficiency. Read the full story in The AP 👇

Dallas is doing things differently, and that’s a direct result of the game-changing work of the Housing Forward-led All Neighbors Coalition.

When you see us engaging our neighbors experiencing homelessness during the World Cup, what you’re witnessing is our long-term commitment to reduce street homelessness by connecting people with the resources they need to become self-sufficient.
