1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
Taking a proactive approach to your breast health starts with preventive care. Scheduling your annual mammogram and talking with your primary care physician about your personal risk factors and recommended screenings can help you take meaningful steps toward early detection and long-term wellness.
On National Mammography Day, make breast health a priority: schedule your mammogram and encourage the women you love to do the same. Learn more at: https://christus.io/breastimaging đź’—

After her diagnosis in March 2025, Dottie Armand underwent both surgery and radiation. But when she began experiencing swelling in her left hand and arm, along with new pain and stiffness, she realized recovery was still a work in progress.
Through specialized physical therapy focused on breast cancer recovery, Dottie began finding relief. After her very first session, she noticed the swelling in her hand had started to go down. Within three visits, she no longer experienced the same swelling.
Her therapist, Tara, has also equipped Dottie with exercises, stretches and resources to continue supporting her recovery at home.
A licensed clinical social worker who has spent nearly 30 years helping others, Dottie knows the power of support. Now, she hopes her own experience will encourage other survivors to ask questions, explore their options and advocate for their health.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're celebrating survivors like Dottie and the access and support beyond treatment our ministries are providing.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are celebrating saints like Saint Teresa de Jesus de Los Andes.

Born Juana Enriqueta Josefina Fernández Solar in Santiago, Chile, in 1900, Teresa is remembered as a joyful and devoted witness to Christ. Known by many as Juanita, she grew up in a faithful family and felt drawn to God from a young age.

At fourteen, she sensed a call to religious life, and in 1919 she entered the Discalced Carmelite monastery in Los Andes, receiving the name Teresa of Jesus. Though her time in Carmel was brief, her life was marked by prayer and generosity.

Teresa died in 1920 at age 19 after an intense illness. Canonized in 1993, she became the first Chilean saint and remains a powerful reminder that holiness is possible through faith, love and everyday devotion to God.

This , we recognize the power of access to care.
Often the first step in a patient's healthcare journey, primary care connects individuals and families to the integrated services, support, and resources they need to live healthier lives.
We're proud to make that care more accessible in the communities we serve, like opening a clinic in Rockport and expanding our reach in rural communities like Mt. Pleasant. By combining coordinated care, convenient access, and meaningful patient relationships, we're helping people of all ages achieve their best health.
Join us in recognizing the primary care professionals who deliver such care every day and help keep our communities healthy!

For Yancy Salcedo, executive assistant, these values inspire both her personal and professional life. “As a proud Mexican American, I believe that together we are stronger. Being fluent in both English and Spanish allows me to bring people together, help others feel informed and supported and create an environment where everyone feels heard and valued.” Guided by the lessons of family, compassion and service passed down through generations, Yancy strives to make a meaningful difference through small acts of kindness, fostering understanding and strengthening the spirit of One CHRISTUS every day.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are celebrating saints like Saint Rose of Lima.

Born Isabel Flores de Oliva in Lima, Peru, in 1586, Rose became the first canonized saint of the Western Hemisphere. From childhood, she was known for her deep love of God, devotion to prayer and commitment to a life centered on Christ.

Inspired by Saint Catherine of Siena, Rose chose a life of sacrifice, humility and service. Though her family hoped she would marry, she remained devoted to her vow of virginity and later received the habit of Saint Dominic.

Rose’s life of prayer never closed her heart to others. She helped support her family through embroidery and lacework, and her days were marked by charity work and devotion. Canonized in 1671, Saint Rose of Lima remains a beloved witness of faith and love for God.
