When we made reservations for dinner here in 2021, a stroke changed those plans. At the time, I had no idea what recovery would look like, or if we’d ever make this trip happen.
This week, we finally did. Recovery isn’t about getting your old life back. It’s about learning to embrace the life you have now, and finding beauty in it.

This moment was worth the wait!

Four weeks from today, I’ll take the stage in the competition at Ms. Wheelchair USA.

Representing Oklahoma is an incredible honor, and I’m looking forward to sharing my platform, FSST Forward, while meeting and learning from an amazing group of women with disabilities from across the country. Each contestant has a unique story, and together we are proving that disability does not define our potential.

My stroke was a massive right MCA stroke. It changed how I move, process information, and experience the world. Every stroke is different because every area of the brain has a different job. Awareness matters.

June is Antiphospholipid Syndrome Awareness Month.

Before my stroke, I had never heard of APS. Today, I know it as the autoimmune disorder that changed my life. APS causes the blood to clot more easily than it should and can lead to strokes, blood clots, heart attacks, and other serious complications. Many people are diagnosed only after a major medical event. My stroke was the beginning of that journey for me. By sharing my story, I hope to help bring attention to a condition that too many people have never heard of until it affects them or someone they love. ❤️
