International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a reminder that substance use disorder impacts millions of individuals, families, and communities every day. 💙

In the United States alone, over 40 million Americans ages 12 and older struggle with substance use disorders—more than those affected by heart conditions, diabetes, or cancer.

Substance use disorder is a health condition, and recovery is possible with support, treatment, and compassion.

Supporting someone struggling with substance use disorder isn’t always easy — but compassion, patience, and connection can make a meaningful difference. 💙

Sometimes support starts with a conversation:
✔ Choose the right time and place to talk
✔ Express concerns honestly
✔ Offer support, not judgment
✔ Be prepared for their reaction
✔ Share resources for help

You don’t have to have all the answers to show someone they’re not alone.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads, grandpas, father figures, and caregivers working every day to support their families and keep moving forward. 💙

For many families, Father’s Day can also be a reminder of the importance of mental health, recovery, and support. Substance use disorder affects fathers, sons, partners, and loved ones — and recovery is possible.

Today, we celebrate the fathers in recovery, the families supporting them, and the strength it takes to keep showing up each day.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month 💙

Many men are taught to stay quiet about stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, or substance use struggles — but mental health challenges are real, and support matters.

Talking about mental health, asking for help, and seeking support are signs of strength, not weakness. No one should feel like they have to carry everything alone.

Meaningful change doesn't happen by accident—it takes commitment and investment.

Thanks to more than $2.2 million in grant funding awarded across northwestern Colorado, communities are expanding resources to address behavioral health and substance use needs.

Memorial Regional Health received a $500,000 award, including $192,000 over the next two years to create an in-house secure transport service for behavioral health patients—helping ensure safer, more timely access to the care people need.

This is what community investment looks like.

June is PTSD Awareness Month 💙

PTSD and substance use disorder are often deeply connected. Many individuals use substances to cope with trauma, anxiety, fear, or painful experiences — which is why understanding trauma is an important part of supporting recovery.

Healing is possible, and no one should have to navigate trauma or recovery alone.
