It is open enrollment, and we are here to help you navigate it.
Many of you have gotten a notice about your United Healthcare Advantage plan no longer covering our areas. This is true, only participants that qualify for the dual plans can be covered with a dual advantage plan in Moffat County. We know this can be a scary and confusing situation. For many it will add a big burden. You will need to go back to Original Medicare, get a part D drug plan and may be responsible for deductibles and copays. This is a perfect time to check your eligibility for an MSP -Medicare Savings Plan (pays for your part B premium and may qualify you for a dual plan), or Long-term care Medicaid might be an option. You qualify for these services through DHS - Department of Human Services. You may also qualify for Extra Help with the cost of drugs, and we can help you apply through the Social Security Administration, which is responsible for Medicare.
For many this can be an opportunity. With their plan leaving the area, it DOES open up a Guaranteed Issue Period to get a Medicap (Supplement) plan without going through underwriting. Those that missed their original period or had switched to an advantage plan, this is your chance. There are many Medicap plan providers with much different prices to provide the same coverage. United Healthcare still sells Medicap plans and may or may not be the best company for you. Here is the Medicare Medicap link https://www.medicare.gov/health-drug-plans/medigap
Medicare, you can go to the find Medigap policies tab to compare plans. Plan G has the most comprehensive new coverage available now, and a high-deductible G plan maybe the best option for those that need to keep their monthly premium cost as low as possible. There are multiple plans, and everyone is different, so check into what is best for you.

Medigap is extra insurance you can buy from a private health insurance company to help pay your share of out-of-pocket costs in Original Medicare.
