Newton Trails' mission is to promote, develop, and sustain a connected system of greenway trails which support vibrant, healthy, and prosperous communities and the conservation of natural habitats, plants, and wildlife.

Someone placed this little free library, or perhaps little free pantry, along the Cricket Frog Trail at West Street. Whoever installed it, would you please repair or remove it? Thank you.

UPCOMING EASTSIDE TRAIL CLOSURE - The City of Covington will close a section of the Eastside Trail (highlighted in red on the map) starting Wednesday, June 3, 2026 and extending for several days. The closed section area will be from the corner of Hazelbrand Road and Martin Street to the east side of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue near the Covington Ford dealership.

Due to the location of the closure beneath the highway, there is no available detour route. Therefore, that section of the trail will be closed to trail users while the work is being completed.

The work is fairly substantial and will require the closure to remain in place for several days. The reopening date is currently unknown. Watch for updates from City of Covington, GA - Government and Newton Trails.

Due to a stormwater project at the intersection of Mill Street and Thompson Avenue, the portion of the Cricket Frog Trail that crosses this area will be closed beginning Tuesday, May 26, 2026 for at least two days, weather permitting. Our friends at Newton Trails suggest using the following detour:
"On the day(s) of closure, the best detour from the Trail at Floyd St. is to travel south on Butler St. and then east on Conyers St. to the Trail; or if coming from the south, reverse this path." Visit https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1738740441150673&set=pcb.1738741094483941 for a map of this detour.

Please share with your friends and neighbors who use the Cricket Frog Trail. The intersection of Mill Street and Thompson Avenue remains closed to vehicular traffic as well. Thank you for your patience during this construction. 🚧
