Last week at camp, our campers not only survived in the wilderness, they thrived!
Whether it was building the perfect fire structure or working together to build a waterproof shelter, our campers are ready to take on the great outdoors.
🎨 The KneeHigh Naturalists didn't let the rain stop them! They got creative and worked on a group art piece inside the Education Center while they waited for the thunder to pass. When the sun finally came out, they journeyed through the Art Meadow and ended up at Shelter City. While they were there, they worked together to build a strudy shelter!
🌱 The Junior Naturalists worked on their bushcraft skills all week! They made primitive stone tools, learned how to craft cordage from cattail, and built lots of cozy campfires. The campers also searched for wild edibles and enjoyed learning how to make tea over the fire with plants they harvested.
🔥 The Mentors In Training have been working on their wilderness skills for years. This week, they learned how to teach those wilderness skills to the campers. They worked on friction fires with bow drill kits, waterproof shelter building, and campfire cooking. They each brought what they learned to their hiking groups and passed on their knowledge to the next generation of campers!
🗡️ The Master Naturalists immersed themselves in the world of LimeCraft! They spent the week "leveling up" their swords by working on different wilderness skills. For each sword they earned, they completed skills such as natural cordage making and fire making. They ended the week with a big Art Meadow battle that may have included a dinosaur or two...
