Sweet Callie needs a hero. ❤️
If you’ve been following Callie’s story, you know she came from less-than-ideal circumstances. You can tell just by looking at her that she’s lived a hard life and hasn’t known much comfort or kindness.
Until recently.
No more heat cycles. No more puppies. No more fighting for resources or survival. These days, Callie is discovering soft beds, warm blankets, full meals, and lots of cuddles for the very first time.
Callie does have some reactivity toward other dogs, which honestly isn’t surprising considering she arrived severely underweight and covered in scars and wounds. We’ve been working with a trainer, and she’s already making progress, but managing multiple dogs safely has become extremely difficult. I currently have several dogs in my home, and keeping everyone separated is consuming nearly every hour of the day. I’ve even been staying in our guest house with Callie so everyone stays safe and stress levels stay low.
What Callie really needs right now is a dog-savvy foster home — ideally one without other dogs — where she can finally relax, decompress, and continue healing while we search for the perfect adopter or rescue partner.
And she’s been through so much medically in just five short weeks.
She arrived with a skin infection discovered during her spay surgery, needed several rotten teeth removed, and has spent most of her time here either in stitches or on antibiotics. More recently, the vet removed several suspicious lumps and wounds for biopsy. One mass on a mammary gland appears to potentially be an aggressive form of cancer. She still needs another surgery to remove a larger section and a lymph node, and we are hoping with everything we have that she’ll get a clean bill of health afterward.
Despite all of this, Callie remains one of the sweetest, happiest dogs you could meet.
She absolutely adores people. She’s goofy, enthusiastic, affectionate, and full of joy. She wants to love and be loved so badly. She has also met a couple of cats and did wonderfully — she sniffed politely, wagged her tail, and quickly lost interest.
Callie has survived so much already. Now she just needs someone willing to give her a safe place to land.
If you think you might be able to foster Callie, please reach out. Even sharing her story could help change her life. ❤️
