๐ŸŒปAugust at Cornwall Manor: A Month of Wellness, Connection, Celebration and Community

August was a month filled with energy, creativity, friendly competition and meaningful connections at Cornwall Manor. From new wellness opportunities and hands-on workshops to celebrating resident achievements and honoring milestones, there was plenty to celebrate throughout our community.

New Ways to Move and Feel Your Best
Wellness took center stage with the introduction of new classes at The Clubhouse at The Woods, giving residents even more ways to stay active and have fun. New offerings included cardio drumming, Core & More and additional opportunities to move, strengthen and connect with others. These classes brought plenty of enthusiasm โ€” proving that fitness can be both beneficial and fun at every age.

Creativity in Bloom
Residents also had the opportunity to get creative during a special flower arranging workshop featuring pollinator-friendly flowers grown right here on the farm. Staff from Trailside Organic Farm shared their knowledge and helped participants transform beautiful, locally grown blooms into unique arrangements. It was a wonderful celebration of gardening, nature and creativity โ€” with the added benefit of supporting pollinators.

Our Artful Connections series continued to inspire with two memorable offerings. Residents enjoyed dancing with Christy Kam, bringing movement, music and plenty of smiles to the room. Another workshop, led by Tessa Medeiros, invited participants to create charming clay tea light houses, combining imagination and craftsmanship in a hands-on artistic experience.

Good Food and Good Company
August also brought residents together around the table with a Men's Breakfast, offering an opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while catching up, sharing stories and strengthening friendships. Moments like these are an important part of what makes Cornwall Manor a special community.

Investing in the Next Generation
The annual Weik Scholarship Reception was another special August highlight. Seven scholarships were awarded to deserving students, continuing a tradition of supporting education and investing in the future. The reception was a meaningful reminder of the generosity and legacy represented within the Cornwall Manor community.

Game On!
Friendly competition was in full swing during two weeks of Senior Games. Residents competed across more than 20 different games, putting their skills, strategy and determination to the test. By the end of the competition, an impressive 90 medals had been awarded. Beyond the medals, the Senior Games provided plenty of opportunities for laughter, encouragement and camaraderie โ€” proving that a little friendly competition can bring a community even closer together.

Celebrating Seniors โ€” and Our Four-Legged Friends
We were proud to celebrate National Senior Citizens Day, recognizing the experiences, accomplishments and contributions of the older adults who make our community so special.

And because Cornwall Manor is a pet-friendly community, we couldn't let August pass without celebrating National Dog Day! Our four-legged residents and companions bring an extra dose of joy, personality and love to community life and they certainly deserve their own day of recognition.

A Remarkable Achievement for Our Health Center
August also brought an important achievement for rthe Health Center: the Health Center received a deficiency-free inspection from the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This accomplishment reflects the dedication, professionalism and commitment of the entire Health Center team to providing exceptional care and maintaining high standards for our residents.

A Resident Story That Reached Beyond The Woods
One of August's most memorable stories belonged to resident LaVerne Longenecker, whose remarkable perseverance in searching for letters written by her great-grandparents during the Civil War captured the attention of the community โ€” and beyond.

LaVerne's story was featured by WGAL News 8 and LebTown, shining a spotlight on her determination to uncover and preserve a piece of her family's history. Her journey is a wonderful example of how personal stories, family connections and a love of history can span generations.

Looking Back on a Full August
From drumming and dancing to flowers and clay, from breakfast gatherings and Senior Games to scholarships and significant accomplishments, August was a month that truly reflected the spirit of Cornwall Manor.

It was a month of wellness, creativity, friendship, achievement, history and celebration โ€” and, most importantly, a month filled with the people who make Cornwall Manor such a special place to call home.
