We love rescuing senior animals and we also love enabling senior humans to adopt. Many are instantly turned away by shelters and rescues due to age, and honestly, we feel that if there’s an appropriate age match between the humans and the pet and a good plan in place for worst case scenarios (which we want no matter who is adopting from us) then we absolutely love when seniors adopt seniors. And that brings us to Lili and David. They’ve now adopted three senior dogs from us over the years, giving them a loving home and special last chapter until the very end. And living with Lili and David is truly a gift for these dogs, as they are spoiled and loved beyond measure until it’s their time. It started with a three-legged guy named Twig, they recently lost their second dog, Rusty, and then they heard about Barbara, a darling old gal abandoned by her family who just needed a soft lap to land on. Yesterday she went home with them, and you can see that she’s settling right in. We hope more rescues will consider letting seniors adopt seniors. It can be truly magical. A big thank you to Lorraine who plays a huge role in all of David and Lili’s dogs’ lives, and to Ruth who fostered Barbara until she found her happy ending. Stories like this bring so much joy in uncertain times, and we are so grateful to David, Lili and Lorraine for giving these sweet dogs the best life.
