Do you know a high school student who is curious about plants, science, and space? 🌱🚀

Fairchild’s Growing Beyond Earth Saturday Internship gives students ages 16+ the opportunity to participate in real NASA-partnered space agriculture research, gain hands-on plant science experience, test spaceflight prototypes, and earn up to 150 volunteer hours.

The program runs Saturdays from October 17, 2026, through May 22, 2027.

Applications are due September 25 and require a video essay and letter of recommendation.

In 2009, Yayoi Kusama brought her extraordinary world of color, form, and imagination to Fairchild.

Her monumental flowers, pumpkins, and polka-dotted sculptures became part of the Garden landscape, illusory flowers among living ones, art in conversation with nature.

Speaking about the exhibition, Kusama reflected on the inspiration she found in “the mystery of the universe that lies in nature.”

Today, we remember Yayoi Kusama and the unforgettable moment her work became part of our Garden. 1929–2026

" Beautiful Tropical Garden and Wonderful Experience!

My husband and I visited Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami, and we absolutely loved the beautiful tropical atmosphere. The gardens were gorgeous, peaceful, and very clean, and the staff throughout the property were friendly and welcoming.

Our volunteers propagate rare orchids, prep plants bound for NASA’s Growing Beyond Earth program, and welcome every guest who walks through our gates.

Some started as kids tagging along with family. Others found their love for plants right here. All of them keep this Garden growing.
