Support climate resilience and wetlands during Mohawk Valley Gives!

Wetlands are a crucial part of our local ecosystems and help mitigate the effects of climate change. These areas absorb excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, prevent flooding, and host diverse flora and fauna. Otsego Land Trust has conserved many public and private lands that host wetlands.

Protect these vulnerable environments by donating during Mohawk Valley Gives on Friday, September 18th!

The New York State Birding Trail has expanded to include three additional sites in the Central – Finger Lakes and Capital Regions. The three sites: Al Lorenz Park, Parslow Preserve, and Fort Hardy Park & Old Champlain Canal Towpath, provide outdoor experiences for the whole family.

🐦 Al Lorenz Park: Managed by Livingston County, this 80-acre park includes a small pond, wooded trails, restrooms, picnic tables, and additional park amenities that welcome many outdoor pursuits, including birding.

🐦 Parslow Preserve Conservation Area: Managed by Otsego Land Trust, this 86-acre property sits along Oaks Creek and boasts a diverse ecosystem with wetlands, hemlock groves, and bogs that support a thriving bird population.

🐦 Fort Hardy Park & Old Champlain Canal Towpath: Managed by the Village of Schuylerville and Friends of Fort Hardy Park, this site offers the benefits of a community park with great access to the Hudson River and the Old Champlain Canal Towpath.
The sites are just a few of the over 400 Birding Trail locations across DEC, State Parks, and community partner properties across the state.
