Meet Otis! 🐾

Otis is a handsome 30-pound Cocker Spaniel with an adorable face and a gentle soul. This sweet boy can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, his loving personality quickly shines through.

Otis is crate trained, gets along well with other dogs, and enjoys the company of his canine friends. He has not yet been introduced to cats, so we are unsure how he would do in a home with feline companions.

This charming boy is freshly groomed and ready to find his forever family. Otis is fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

Meet Hope ❤️

Hope was found very close to I45 in Spring, TX. Another abandoned puppy who deserves better.

The finder is like most of us, busy, works, has other dogs at home and didn’t choose to have a younger puppy at home BUT she couldn’t leave the puppy to be hit by a car.

We’ll work this out together and start vetting this week.

We need adopters so we can keep helping cases like this. Please share Hope so we can find her a great home.

We’re guessing around 5 months old and 25lbs. She’s a beautiful grey color and settling in well in her foster home.

It was a hot pack walk today! The dogs all loved it but Gertie and Indie wanted to show off their butts! They’re saying come walk with us and you can have nice shapely butts too 🤣

Meet Our Newest Intake - Winnie 🥰

This sweet little girl was found running loose in the country and was even seen being chased by a large dog. Thankfully, a kind person got her to safety and took her to a veterinarian, where she was scanned for a microchip. Unfortunately, she had no chip, no ID tag, and no one has come forward to claim her.

The vet estimates that she is about 1 year old and she weighs just over 7 pounds. She is as sweet as can be and absolutely loves being in your lap.

We are especially grateful that she came into rescue when she did. She is currently in heat, and unspayed female strays often end up pregnant, adding even more unwanted puppies to an already overwhelming shelter and rescue population. Thankfully, that won't be happening for this little lady. She will be spayed as soon as it is safe to do so.

Once she is fully vetted and ready, she will be available for adoption. For now, she's safe, loved, and enjoying the start of her new journey.

Some stories are just meant to be! Congratulations Honey and Daisy 🩷🩷

This wonderful family had been patiently waiting for the right puppy to come along. They weren’t in a rush and knew the perfect match would happen when the time was right. Well… the right puppies came along, two of them!

Dad completely fell in love with one pup, while Mom’s heart was stolen by another from a different litter. In the end, they decided not to choose between them and welcomed both rescue babies into their home.

These lucky pups truly hit the jackpot with a family who already adores them, and best of all, they are getting along perfectly and loving life together.

We are so grateful for people who choose adoption and open their hearts and homes to rescue dogs. Every adoption changes a life, sometimes two at once!

There were over 600 calls in the first 15 minutes for the surgery. The need in our area is that immense. APR has a few Volunteers signed up to help the event and as part The Montgomery County Spay/Neuter Alliance we will be sponsoring food and snacks for the Volunteers and Staff that day.

Volunteers are crucial for this event. Please have a look at the sign up and see how you can help. If you have been lucky enough to secure a spot that day, pay it back by helping for a few hours!

FAQ:
Can kids volunteer?
Volunteers must be 18 or older to be in rooms where animals are present or to handle animals (cat scribe, dog recovery, runner, data runner, or kennel). Students 14-17 may volunteer for setup or breakdown activities, ideally with teacher or parent supervision. A parent must also sign the volunteer waiver, which is emailed several days before the event.

Can volunteers sign up their pets or skip the registration line?
No, events target particular zip codes. Unless volunteers live in the selected zip codes, they are not able to participate. Volunteers who are eligible must go through the same process as the public - you CANNOT request to have the pet arrive late or leave early to coordinate with their volunteer shifts.

When can I sign up my pet?
Only pets living in specific zip codes can participate. The zip codes for the June event will be announced on Monday, May 18 - registration will take place the following week. Watch our social media pages for the most updated information!
