North Carolina's motorsports industry is a major economic engine. Now, it's time to measure its full horsepower and set a path for continued growth.
For the first time in more than 20 years, North Carolina is undertaking a comprehensive study of the motorsports industry's economic impact, backed by a $400,000 investment from the North Carolina General Assembly.
And the stakes extend well beyond the racetrack. Today's motorsports industry is a sophisticated business cluster spanning advanced manufacturing, engineering, technology, research and development, specialized suppliers, and thousands of skilled workers across our state. This study isn't simply about putting a dollar figure on that impact. It's about turning economic data into economic opportunity.
The findings will help North Carolina:
✅ Attract new businesses and investment
✅ Support expansion and job creation
✅ Strengthen workforce development initiatives
✅ Identify opportunities for innovation and industry growth
✅ Reinforce our state's competitive advantage as the home of American motorsports
The North Carolina Motorsports Association is proud to serve on the study's steering committee, helping ensure our industry's voice is represented throughout this important initiative.
But here's the most important part: We need the industry's participation. Businesses throughout North Carolina's motorsports ecosystem will be asked to contribute insights, data and perspectives that will help tell the complete story of our industry's economic significance. The more comprehensive the participation, the more valuable the findings will be in shaping future policy, investment and economic development strategies.
