MUSEUM HOUR UPDATE

The Compton Art & History Museum will be closed for the next two weeks as we install our new exhibition! 🏡🎨

We’re excited to welcome you back for the opening on October 17. Stay tuned for more details—we can’t wait to share!

As part of our upcoming exhibition, At Home: Between Memory & Place, we’re specifically highlighting and celebrating the people, places, stories, and everyday moments that make our community our home.

We’re looking for photos and videos from years past like family snapshots, portraits, celebrations, neighborhood scenes, and everyday moments that capture memories and bring the feeling of home to life.

Artist Archive Fellowship

History doesn’t just live in textbooks- it lives in our neighborhoods everyday, in family practices, in the names we carry and the ones that have been erased. For too long, the story of communities like ours has been told by someone else, on someone else’s terms. The Artist Archive Fellowship exists to change who holds the pen and the camera. As Summer is coming to an end we are slowing down on weekly programming BUT still hosting our monthly events such as our Archving & Photowalk days!
PLUS THIS SATURDAY Color Compton is hosting a screening “IF I GO WILL THEY MISS ME” Trailer Screening + Art Activity by Nina one of our previous students from the Community Archive Fellowship 🤩

We are also taking up space for Hispanic Heritage month where we will be hosting a Paint & Sip with Bad Bunny Jams! 🌴☀️
And if you haven’t checked out our current exhibition, September 26 will be the last day to see it! We will be open late hours to give folks a chance to check it out before it’s gone 😢
