Compton Advocates Coalition Compton Advocates Coalition is a non-partisan, not-for-profit charitable organization committed to supporting the Compton Community.

Mission: To advocate for the growth and empowerment of the residents of Compton by promoting a variety of events and resources that cultivate unity, the desire to take action, and the hunger for education. Tonight’s City Council meeting will begin with closed session at 4:30 p.m. The public meeting is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., though the start time may be delayed if the closed session runs longer than anticipated.

Residents can provide public comment in person, by email, or via Zoom before the respective sessions.

Meetings can be viewed live on the City’s website under Council Meetings or on the City’s YouTube channel.

Community involvement and awareness are essential to transparent local government. Stay informed, follow the discussion, and make your voice heard.

Join us for Coffee & Civic Voices: Session 2 on Saturday, October 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.!

At this session you can register to vote, check your voter status, and we’ll go over what’s on the ballot.

We’re here to help you navigate your ballot and prepare for election day.

This election is critical—and we don’t say that lightly. This is not the election to sit out.

The key is to do your research and make a plan. We’ve done what we can to help - visit comptonadvocates.org to access our election resource guide.

Correction: I made a mistake and want to ensure I’m sharing accurate information. Additional vote centers are open in Compton, each with varying operational dates and hours—please see the attached chart for details.

That said, I stand by my previous position. Some individuals advocated against having vote centers and raised claims of fraud around the process. We should never support efforts that suppress or disenfranchise voters. Our priority should always be expanding access, not limiting it.

Yesterday at our Coffee and Civic Voices event, we had a great conversation about the general election. We reviewed the offices, propositions and measures on the ballot and had computers available so people could explore their individual races using . We also shared other tools to help voters make informed decisions.

With so much at stake, I expected the room to be overflowing. Consider this a reminder that voting isn’t just important—it’s essential. When people don’t participate, our democracy is at risk.

Apathy and disengagement are dangerous to democracy, and we have to change that. It’s all hands on deck. Your vote is your voice—use it.

We’re working on a few things. We may host another event next Saturday, and we’re considering a candidate forum for undecided voters. Stay tuned!

Tonight’s City Council meeting will begin with a special closed session at 3:30 p.m. The public meeting is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., though the start time may be delayed if the closed session runs longer than anticipated.

Meetings can be viewed live on the City’s website under Council Meetings or on the City’s YouTube channel.

Of particular note, the Council is scheduled to review 13 legal cases during tonight’s closed session, an unusually high number that warrants public attention. Many case details may be available through a basic online search.

If you’re a Compton resident, we have listed some offices you may need to vote on. For district-based offices, you’ll see them on your ballot if you live in that district.

We also welcome people from surrounding communities, we can assist you too.

There is a lot of dialogue going around about using the write in feature on their ballot. Please read the info below.

it is important to note that a write-in vote will only be counted if the person you are writing in has officially filed to be a qualified write-in candidate for that specific office.

If you write in the name of a person who has not qualified, that specific vote will not be counted.

It’s a better strategy to research candidates, pick the one who aligns best with you and vote. If you are able to run for office, get prepared for the next round.
