In the last 24 hours, Comanche VFD responded to two structure fires.

Today, around 7:30AM. Comanche VFD was dispatched to a structure fire on 377/67 East, just outside of town. Upon arrival, the fire had burned through the roof of a single-wide mobile home. Comanche VFD executed an aggressive interior attack, and with the engine's monitor, the fire was rapidly contained. One individual was transported to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, and one dog was found deceased within the residence. Proctor Volunteer Fire Department was also on scene, and mutual aid from Promontory Park and Deleon was canceled.

Yesterday morning, Comanche VFD responded to a structure fire and provided mutual aid to De Leon Volunteer Fire Department on a structure fire located on CR156. Comanche VFD assisted with salvage and overhaul operations.

CR 240 (2 miles NE off of FM 2486) water over 1 foot deep over road; impassable (2:30 p.m. update)

CR 324 is now CLOSED (2:15 pm update)

CR 324 Indian creek @ 10:29 am: ten feet from bridge

CR 324 at low water crossing south of Indian Creek @ 10:30 am: rushing over roadway, 2 feet deep, not passable.

CR 304A at 3381 @ 10:36 am: over roadway, moving, 2 inches deep, passable.

CR 304A near CR 304 at Indian Creek @ 10:40 am: rushing over roadway, 2 feet deep, not passable.

The rain started early this morning and continues to fall (although not as heavy). There is a flash flood weather statement in effect. A number of streets in the City of Comanche have significant amounts of flowing water over them. A city worker has been out placing barricades - AS ALWAYS: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

There are probably a number of county roads impassable at this time.

Use caution if out and about. Report any flooded roads to Comanche County dispatch at 325-356-2222.

Be weather aware tonight

From hot to possible severe storms today…

Dangerous heat today. Rowdy storms later.

A few storms may fire up this afternoon and tonight across parts of North Texas, Texoma, Northwest Texas, the Big Country, Concho Valley, Hill Country, and nearby areas.

Not everyone gets storms, but the ones that do form may mean business.

Main concerns:
- Damaging wind gusts over 70 mph
- Hail
- Frequent lightning
- Locally heavy rain
- Localized flash flooding

Friday into Saturday brings more scattered storm chances across a larger part of Texas. Then next week may try to start the summer storm train, with thunderstorm complexes moving south from the Plains.

Also, yes, it is gross outside. Heat index values in parts of South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley may approach or exceed 120° today.

For anyone working outdoors today - hydrate

Some pictures of Monday's training night. Our firefighters trained on several different techniques to evacuate individuals from roofs and second & third stories.

Meanwhile, we also utilized our brand new rope gear, which we recently acquired. We purchased two sets that can be used for rope rescue in different settings.
